He didn't know how to burn an ISO, thus installing Linux would be a choreWebFire;1438550 wrote:Ok, I read it now. What did I miss? I would recommend Linux over trying to reinstall POS Vista any day.

Go to the manufacturer of your PC and get drivers for your model. I do it all the time. Installed Win 7 on many an old PC and never had issues.gut;1438551 wrote:Tell that to Windows and my computer. It's not difficult to get drivers, but the right ones that don't cause conflicts and crashes is a different story.

Yes, provided your model and OS is still supported on their web. But like I said, when I did this there was 1 or 2 bad drivers provided by HP and I had to figure it out by trial and error (they also sent me recovery disks that didn't work). Maybe it was just a fluke, but HP clearly didn't have their shit together with this particular model.WebFire;1438563 wrote:Go to the manufacturer of your PC and get drivers for your model. With so many different mfrs and models out there, if you don't have the factory shipped recovery disks I would absolutely recommend you clone the drive. Even just considering the time factor to search, d/l and install the drivers this is a case where it's worth $50 to BB to clone.

That's fine if it works for you. I prefer to keep my $50. Honestly, searching and d/ling has never been an issue, especially on HPs, which we use almost extensively at work.gut;1438570 wrote:Yes, provided your model and OS is still supported on their web. Just my thoughts.

If you did everything I told you, you'd have a vista CD
