Yeah there have been a lot of cases where a school had multiple suicides in a short period of time. I wouldn't say it's contagious but it can spread like it is. Ive seen studies showing if you know someone who has committed suicide then you are more likely to as well. Even the military has had problems with this on some bases.

I had a similar experience with this kind of situation. One kid in my high school class committed suicide and then within 6 months another kid attempted suicide. No suicides any time before that, after the attempt the school went into a very concerned almost panic mode regarding the situation.

Well, you might not call it contagious, but that is part of the language used in the literature. I didn't just make it up.

Suicide and school shootings and such are..."contagious."

I like to refer to it as "copycat." When one person does it, there is all kinds of speculation and talk about "why?" So, what happens...others that may identify with the perpetrator try to do the same. It's a shame. It's sad.

First thing I thought of, "Jeremy." Just like the previous poster -- Jeremy spoke in class today.
