Wow! What a weird way to end an inning. Paul drops the fly ball that would have ended it. And then proceeds to start an awesome relay to gun the runner at the plate.

With 92 pitches starting the 6th, he'll go no more than 6, so hopefully he can get thru the 6th unscathed.

Hear this now......

They won't allow Cingrani to surpass 170 inn.....that would get him deep into Sept but no playoffs if he continues as is.
So starting now......use him in the bullpen for the month of May and then never look back.

LeCure needed yanked after the last batter.

Marshall gets out of it nicely, but did Dusty make a strategical mental blunder? I wasn't watching that closely and when LeCure was struggling, Tracy, a left hander was getting ready to pinch hit. Did Dusty err by not waiting for Davey to commit to a hitter before he committed to Marshall? If so, he allowed Davey to get a right hander up there without burning an extra pich hitter! Cbssports play by play shows he did:
Kurt Suzuki : Ball, Ball, Ball, Strike looking, Suzuki doubled hard to deep left, Desmond scored, Rendon to third.
Sean Marshall relieved Sam LeCure
Stephen Lombardozzi hit for Craig Stammen.
Stephen Lombardozzi : Ball, Ball, Strike looking, Foul, Lombardozzi grounded out to pitcher.

Cozart had to get that fly ball a little extra further out there to let it be comfortable for Corky to score to get LeCure's run back.

Lombardozzi was in the on-deck circle before Dusty went to Marshall, but Marshall was the only one warming up, and everyone knew LeCure wasn't going to face another batter.

Choo got a late break....Bruce should've just caught it himself and Harper shows you why you run everything out.

If Davey puts Stammen up there you don't think Dusty would let LeCure pitch to him? Make Davey commit first, even if you are going to bring Marshall to pitch even if Davey puts the righty Lombardozzi up with LeCure still in the game. Make Davey who has the pitcher in the spot to start make the first decision!

A walk to start the 9th with a 3 run lead is worse than starting it off with an error, catcher's interference, HBP, HR, triple, double, or single!

Davey wasn't putting Stammen up there. Lombardozzi was in the on-deck circle before Dusty came out to make the change. Davey did commit first. He put Lombardozzi in the on-deck circle, and then Dusty went out to make the change.

And he had Tracy in the on-deck circle before he put Lombardozzi in there. Also, he wouldn't have let LeCure pitch to Stammen, because Sam couldn't throw the ball over the plate.

In the on deck circle is not committing to him. If the play by play above is the way it went down in the official play by play, then Dusty erred.

This is the MLB play by play, and oviously it is not in proper order because they have coaching visit last
in between the ABs of Suzuki and Lombardozzi:

4.Kurt Suzuki doubles (4) on a line drive to left fielder Xavier Paul. Ian Desmond scores. Anthony Rendon to 3rd.
  • [h=5]Pitcher[/h]S. LeCure
  • [h=5]Batter[/h]K. Suzuki
1 90 Fastball (Four-seam) Ball
2 89 Fastball (Two-seam) Ball
3 91 Fastball (Four-seam) Ball
4 87 Fastball (Four-seam) Called Strike
5 87 Fastball (Two-seam) In play, run(s)
Pitching Change: Sean Marshall replaces Sam LeCure, batting 9th.
Offensive Substitution: Pinch-hitter Steve Lombardozzi replaces Craig Stammen.
Coaching visit to mound.
5.Steve Lombardozzi grounds out, pitcher Sean Marshall to first baseman Joey Votto.

Bottomline, Stammen wasn't going to hit, and LeCure wasn't going to face another batter. Marshall was facing whomever came to the plate. I question Dusty as much as anyone, but he did fine in this situation.
