You're on the verge of a W...against a terrible team.
My friend and I were talking about that last night. Dusty just has this habit of putting guys in ironclad roles and then never using them out of that role. Which, with the pen, is not working because the Reds either are winning games by 10 runs or they're locked in some 1-1 tie through 9-13 innings before one team or the other wins.
Guys like Parra and Hoover are in his "pitch in blowouts or the 6-7 inning in a close game" role, so they're either getting used every night (Hoover) or in situations where they shouldn't be (Parra, in any game that hasn't been completely decided...I mean, he has to be getting released soon, doesn't he?...dude just fucking sucks). Meanwhile, you have a situation like in that third game with Pittsburgh where Broxton pitched for the first time in over a week because his "eighth inning in a tie game or save situation lead" role wasn't being perfectly met by the conditions of the game.
You need to show the ability to be a bit more flexible with how you use guys.
