Sigh... here's that argument again. Look, I am a proponent of the playoff system. I think the MWC does not get the respect it deserves. But everytime someone talks about giving the MWC AQ status, they claim the Big East is the worst conference and wants to pull their AQ status. If you haven't noticed, the ACC is looking mighty weak with losses this season against powerhouses like William & Mary and James Madison. The Big East has only one non AQ loss and that is Louisville losing to Utah (considering Louisville is next to last place in the BE it is not that bad of a loss).sjmvsfscs08 wrote: BYU dominated Oregon State, Utah is handled Cal, and Wyoming managed to pull a victory out over Fresno State. That is very impressive. Give this conference an annual match up with the Big East and I think they would seriously challenge them.
Air Force
Boise State
BYU
Colorado State
Fresno State
Hawai'i
Houston
Nevada
UNLV
Utah
Texas Christian
Wyoming
That conference would deserve a bid.
Of course, I think the Pacific-10 should add Boise State and consider their twelfth team shortly thereafter.
If you look at the Big East vs. the rest of the BCS in OOC they have had an overall winning records for the last four years. In fact they have the best Non-Conference record of ANY league against other BCS Conference foes.
2009- 9-7
2008- 9-7
2007- 7-8
2006- 11-7
Big East Total- 36-29 .551
Same Time period other BCS Conference records vs. other BCS & Notre Dame.
ACC- .492
Big 12- .405
Big 10- .550
Notre Dame- .483
Pac-10- .500
SEC- .500

I have no problem with the MWC getting an auto qualifier. They pretty much get in every year anyway. If we need to eliminate a conference the obvious choice based on performance year in and out is the ACC.

You dont need to eliminate any conference. There are 2 At Large bids each year. Just take one of them away and go 1. My biggest problem is, IF ND finishes in the top 10, they get one of the at large bids automatically.

I think they should get an automatic bid, but I don't really care about that. Let's just get to a playoff.

Well, they're 4-0 so far, with their best team left to play in TCU. If they finish 5-0, they'll likely win the bowl challenge and have a BCS win in those 5 games. Gonna be hard to ignore a conference with that proof of competitiveness they've showed the past several years in bowl games, 3 BCS wins in 3 appearances (Utah '04 & '08, TCU '09) that already has a history of openly advocating a playoff. This is all of course, assuming TCU can take care of Boise State, so that game will be a huge game still for their conference.

There is four at large bids right now. If you give the MWC an auto bid it will only hurt Boise St no one else.september63 wrote: You dont need to eliminate any conference.
