lolk kenny smith, I'm a big cleveland homer and even I think that's a bit ridiculous. Lets think of the recent great Cavs teams, they had LBJ and won 60 games. This team is almost as good as that team?

Think about it for a second. An improved Waiters, Thompson; 6th man candidate Jarrett Jack; a healthy Varejeo and anything more than zombie Bynum; Bennett, Zeller, Clark, Gee all versatile players.

The "team" minus the superstar is, IMO, definitely better than anything Lebron had.

Now to answer your question: no, I think those Lebron teams would beat this one (esp. that 2010 team). But that has more to do with the distance between Lebron and Kyrie than anything.

The problem is for us to reach 55 wins depends on more than just Kyrie reaching CP3 status (very plausible btw). We also need health from Varejao and Bynum. That's a huge if. Could we do it? Sure, and for that reason I agree with Kenny Smith.

But will we? I highly doubt it.

Although if you're into the gambling thing, the over/under of 39.5 wins looks awfully enticing.

Bill Simmons put it out there that he thinks the Cavs could be in the market for Gasol. If Bynum plays 15 games or more for the games I'd be surprised. Depending on the deal, Varejao and 2014 draft pick for Gasol? I'd do that.

And according to some of the major Lakers bloggers who are "in the know", Pau isn't going to be traded. Of course, that will all change come 15 games in when LA is 5-10.

Clark has looked been a disappointment thus far in the preseason. Honestly do not think he would make the team if it wasnt for guaranteed money.

He's looked downright horrible. Granted I think the expectations for him were too high, but my god, he doesn't look like he belongs in the league.

He didn't at first in LA too. He'll be fine. Nothing spectacular, but he should be very solid.

Off topic but was listening to 92.3 at lunch and they got a "sneak peek" from an upcoming ESPN Magazine Q&A with 26 NBA players discussing Lebron James. 50% of the 26 said that had he stayed in Cleveland he would've still won a ring while a prominant, multi-time All Star said that he will return to Cleveland when he makes his next "decision." This All Star said that the current Cavs are constructed like the CHeat was when he joined them...ready to win now.

No doubt he would've won a ring. The stats from last years playoffs proved that. He had the same stats from his supporting cast as he did in Cleveland. Everyone who says Lebron had nobody in cleveland obviously hasn't done their research.

Edit, here they are:

2009 Cavs playoffs:
MoWill 16 pts, 4 ast, 3 reb, 53% TS
West 14 pts, 4 ast, 4 reb, 55% TS
Big Z 11 pts, 1 ast, 8 reb, 48% TS
LeBron 30 pts 6 assists; 8 reb, 61%TS

2010 Cavs playoffs:
MoWill 14 pts, 5 ast, 3 reb, 54% TS
Jamison 15 pts, 1 ast, 7 reb, 54% TS
Shaq 12 pts, 1 ast, 6 reb, 56% TS
LeBron 25 pts, 7 ast 9 rebs, 60%TS

2013 Heat playoffs:
Wade 14 pts, 6 ast, 5 reb, 50% TS
Bosh 13 pts, 1 ast, 7 reb, 57% TS
Allen 10 pts, 1 ast, 3 reb, 56% TS
LeBron 25 pts 6.6 assists 7 reb 61%TS

Those are only 3 players outside of Lebron, what about the other 5 that would be in the rotation? Would Cleveland have had a guy like Mike Miller or Battier to consistently knock down perimeter shots? A lot of unknowns there and really just speculation. Not saying they couldn't have won a ring but that team reminds me of the Bulls teams from the last few years, built for the regular season to win a bunch of games based on their defense and having one superstar being able to carry them. In the playoffs teams can gameplan and take away below average role players and make it hard on the star which happened in Cleveland. Plus Mike Brown is a shitty offensive coach who could never make adjustments when he needed to.

The Cavs with Lebron right now are much better than the Heat with Lebron. I think Lebron comes back to Cleveland after this year especially if Wade and Bosh continue to shit the bed.

I also think you can seal the deal on Lebron leaving Miami if they don't win the championship this year because that gives him a nice excuse to leave.

We had Daniel Gibson (3 pt specialist that dropped 30 in a playoff game against Det) Danny Green, Jamison (can knock down a 3) Anthony Parker (can knock down the 3) West and Mo Williams all are capable of dropping a 3 pt shot. We had very similar role players, we just ran into a buss saw against Orlando who had a historic 3 pt shooting % against us. The 09 team was very deep, but LBJ dogged it and checked out against the Celtics. the difference was LBJ being a bitch boy.

+1, lbj rose to the occasion with the heat, because the child needed a crutch (wade) to mentally fall back on just in case he failed.

I know they had shooters but I seem to remember most of them shooting very poorly in the playoffs, especially against the Celtics. I remember Mo Williams couldn't throw it in the ocean until the final game, and Delonte counld't make anything either. Obviously it's been a few years so the memory is a little foggy there.

Orland had the best FG% in nba playoff history for a series. Over 50%, they shot better from 3 than they did from the rest of the floor. It was unreal, they followed it up with their worst 3 pt shooting % in franchise history against the lakers.

Yeah I remember them running that high screen and roll and killing the Cavs with it. That was tough to watch.

Keep in mind in 2009 we won the first 2 matchups 4-0. We were 8-0 heading into the series against Orlando.

2010 Game 1 against the Celtics, Mo Williams up 20 pts, 5 reb, 6 ast, and 1 steal with only 1 TO while shooting 57%.

Mo WIlliams wasn't the problem, LBJ being a cocksucking bitch boy quitter was.
