No clue. I don't umpire baseball. Not sure we have a baseball umpire on these boards. We have football, basketball & wrestling covered.

Asked my dad about it(umpires softball all kinds has done OHSAA div 1 state finals). He said he would have called her safe since there is no double bag as long as she passed the plane of the base before the throw was there. Also he said this is only if she is running through the bag and not continuing on to second. If she does continue on to second then she would have been out on appeal. But he agrees with the call made as long as she beat the throw.

It's still ridiculous the umpire called her safe as it was by a step and a half and the 1st baseman was touching the corner.

As I understand it, there was a play at first and the runner was called safe because the first baseperson (gotta be PC) pulled her foot from the base before receiving the throw. I assume the runner ran through the base and then came back to stand on the base awaiting the next pitch. Even if the runner initially missed the base she is safe unless the fielder tagged the base or the runner prior to the runner returning to the base awaiting the next pitch. There would be no successful appeal without the fielder tagging the runner or base prior to the runner returning to the base.
