side note....

Daughter hits2...pictured in my avatar, was our varsity pitcher for 2 1/2 years. She was a control pitcher who could hit her spots well and was level headed and a rock emotionally. One particular hitter from a league school who followed her up as they moved thru high school always seemed to hit her well and got the better of their battles more than her share. Senior year, the final game that they would face each other was no exception, and that hitter had already doubled and in the previous AB, hit a monster HR. In what was to be the final at bat that they would ever face each other...Daughter hits nailed her between the shoulder blades with a high hard one. There was some loud muttering from the opposing side.....
I asked her after the game if she had hit her on purpose....she just looked at me and said, "Dad, you taught me well...you know I don't throw at anybody"...and gave me an angelic smile (did I see a wink?) To this day, I don't know for sure whether or not she hit her intentionally even though the subject has come up more than once even in private conversation between us. If she did hit her on purpose, she is not going to admit it...not even to me...."Dad, you taught me well...."

Pretty impressed with Masterson this year. Beginning of his first two starts were a bit shaky, but he really has buckled down and giving the Tribe just what they need from the front of their rotation. Glad for his success. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. I've met him personally, and he's certainly one of the good guys in the MLB.
