Fair enough. I was extremely vague in my first post so I can understand how people could take offense or be defensive about it especially concerning the political leanings of this website to begin with.
I have nothing against people who own guns. I think there are people who are responsible with them and I have no issue with that. My best friend is a US Marine officer and of course he has a few guns that he shoots with. But any time I've watched him handle it, I don't worry. He never does anything dumb such as point it at someone. Nor is he irrational about the state of our civilization and living under the assumption that we are on the verge of the collapse of society and the subsequent post-apocalyptic wasteland where a person will need an excessive amount of ammunition stock-piled to last for the rest of his life.
The crazies that I reference are the people who are stock-piling because of such a fear of that situation.
But on the same token there are people who just don't know how to handle a gun. I was at a person's parents' home a couple months ago. The father recently bought a gun and wanted to show it to us, he just sits down at the kitchen table, pulls it out of the storage box and inadvertently points it at another person (not aiming, just not conscious of the fact that you should never point a gun at someone out of safety).
I'm no gun enthusiast nor do I plan to ever own one. But I'm not anti-gun person. I've shot rifles (range), shot guns (clay pigeons), and hand guns (range).
I was just making a quick comment; I didn't mean to offend so many people.
