I don't drink bourbon. I don't go on the whiskey thread because of it and rip you guys for doing it. See how stupid this thread makes you look? You are a michigan fan though, so I can see how that worked itself out.

No, I don't see it, because the two situations are not even close to being the same.

But it's cool if you want to drink green beer. I don't really care. It's just funny seeing hasbeen be so butt hurt over it.

Most people? Link? I told you not to post because "not irish" and "still not irish" are douchebag, troll posts. If you don't like the topic, then don't post. Some people like St. Patty's day celebration so they do it. If they don't like, they don't partake. They don't walk around the bars and say "I'm not Irish."

They are kind of similar. Eerily even.

You seem to be the butt hurt one. All these fucking non-Irish bastards celebrating St. Patrick's day. "I'M NOT IRISH!"

I won't speak for WebFire but my mission is quite simple. Allow people to understand they don't have to get swept up in Hallmark holidays just to be "cool". I think most rational people think the holiday is absolutely stupid, even for Irish people(in America). But because the media and the ignorant masses(and the bar owners) propel the idea that St. Patrick's day is cool and its fun to go around pretending you are a red haired Irish person for the day; you see it trickle down to the lowest common denominator of society(which keeps getting larger and larger the longer we have Obama in office).

Sleeper, with all due respect, that's the dumbest shit I've ever heard of in my life. The masses aren't hoodwinked to drink because of some "hallmark holiday"..There are few times where a bunch of people get up and go drink to just drink. It's not about celebrating st patty's day, it's about having a good time for the sake of drinking. By your own account, talking yourself up like you own a mcdonalds and fuck average women on a message board is probably the douchiest thing anyone can do. I'll take drinking in chicago with thousands of people over that any day of the week.

And I'll take owning a McDonalds and banging above average women over making up holidays so I can feel apart of a culture(read: drink beer and pretend I'm cool).

I've had success with Thanksgiving as the easiest day of the year to get laid; particularly the night before.

I'm not butthurt. Really. I don't care what you do.

And yes, *most* people who get all crazy about St. Patty's day have no connection to Ireland. And being a Notre Dame fan doesn't count. :)

It has been done numerous times in this thread (and all of the internets), but it is "St. Paddy's Day" for short, not "St. Patty's Day."

You must be Irish to know this. So do people name Patrick in Ireland go by Pad for short?

No, they go by Pat for short. But they shorten Patrick to Paddy to differentiate from the female name Patricia getting shortened to Patty.

It also stems from the Irish version of the name Patrick...Padraig or Padraic.

Best line I heard yesterday at Byrne's pub..."If'n yor truly Irish, drink like yor fake girlfriend just died!"

Survivors party tonight at Byrnes...Hooligans playing, "Rebel Tunes!"
