The Big Lebowski turns 15 today. Still one of my favorite movies, I think I could darn near quote the whole thing.

Not sure it's my favorite Coen Brothers film - it's toward the top, but they've had so many good ones over the years.

What's your favorite Coen Bros. movie?

The Big Lebowski is a great movie, but I will never understand the cult following it has. It's not that great.

I did not see it when it came out, but I heard about how great it was so I watched it. (maybe 5 years ago?) I don't get the love.

It would probably be #2 for me behind Fargo. No Country for Old Men is up there too. Their worst for me was easily Burn After Reading it had some great actors in it but I just thought it was an awful awful movie.

Very very overrated movie. On a good day, it's average.

Yeah, well that's just your opinion man.

IMO it is one of the best screenwriting in modern film. It isn't a particularly approachable film. If it is the fist Coen Bros. movie one has seen I can see how it doesn't quite appeal. But aside from the perfect dialogue and pacing, there is an underlying religious context. And it is probably the most accurate portrayal of Los Angeles.

Lebowski is a good film. For me there is Fargo and then everything else. Fargo is the nearest thing to a perfect film there is.

Agreed. I can see how the subject matter could turn people off (and the accents). But it is nearly a flawless film.

Apologies, I spent most of my time occupying various administration buildings... smoking a lot of thai stick... breaking into the ROTC... and bowling. To tell you the truth dlazz, I don't remember most of it.

For me:
  1. Fargo
  2. No Country for Old Men
  3. O Brother, Where Art Thou?
  4. The Big Lebowski
  5. True Grit
I hated Burn After Reading. I haven't seen any others, to my knowledge.

No Miller's Crossing or Raising Arizona?

There are others but those were the other somewhat popular films.

Did not like Barton Fink or Ladykillers or Hudsucker. Oh brother was good, maybe #6 for me. Intollerable was not bad, but not a typical Coen film. Don't think I've seen any others.
