What do you have that was once your parents or older relatives that you still use now?
The other day I made Ham salad (Sandwich Spread) because I made it with bologna and dill pickles. When down stairs, got out the old hand crank grinder my grandma once had … it just taste so much better than store bought.
I have a two butcher cleaver my grandpa and his dad used to cut up lamb at the Croatian Lamb roast every year. I use them all the time to cut up meat and slice/chop vegetables.
My uncle gave me some old metal case electric tools one ¼ hp drill, two rotating saws I have then hanging over my work bench ready to be used and I do use them.

I have a sectional couch from the college dorm days. It's awesome. Orange 3-piece. I can't wait to put it in my man room.
My wife hates it.

I still own the land he built his house on when he returned from WWII. The garage is still filled with tools that I will occasionally pillage through and use.
I have the flag which was draped across his casket at his funeral....a reminder of his selfishness and service for us all.

My dad gave me a pair of old dress shoes of his. He kept them in great condition. I wear them every now and then.

Nope, Con_Alma doesn't make mistakes and is very literal with his words, I'd like to hear how serving your country is selfish.wildcats20;1399766 wrote:Assuming he meant selflessness.

It's a mistake on my part. It should be posted as unselfishness.

This could have been on purpose. I will never know for sure, so I will default to the Con_Alma way. The better question is why? Why make a mistake on purpose?Con_Alma;1399809 wrote:See above post inclusive of a mistake.

If you don't rely to my above thread there's no reason to think you would relay on this one for such an answer.
Default as you choose. You will anyway.

My grandmother made that same stuff with the same type of hand crank grinder! I forgot all about it...it's the only way I ever ate bologna. An honest thanks for the flood of good memories. I remember helping turn the crank and helping her make it. Would love to find one of those and share that memory with my kids.Belly35;1399674 wrote:The other day I made Ham salad (Sandwich Spread) because I made it with bologna and dill pickles. I have my grandparents dining room set. It's nothing fancy, and probably doesn't really match the "decor" of the dining room....but it's really the only thing I have of theirs. So despite it looking partially out of place, we use it daily.
I'm going to go be a ***** and cry now. Thanks belly.
