With 2 solid starting pitchers back in Kerr and Schley, I would expect a good season as I am sure the players and coaches are as well. That junior class has plenty of varsity experience under their belts so Marshall can't use the young/inexperienced quote again. I see us right back in the regionals again! Good luck Riders!

2 straight losses to Ashland, 6-1 & 3-0 and 1 week into the season, we're 2 losses down in the OCC & still have the rest of the conference to play, including WH, Woo & Ashland.

Frustrating to have all of this returning talent, and not be able to score runs. It's early, so I'm guessing the kids are pressing. Just go out & play.

Don't get discouraged. I got to see Ashland in the regional finals last year against Westlake, and they are/were darn good... a legitimate Division I Final Four caliber team, something which Orrville is not, in my opinion. The good thing is they are still somewhat close games. You're holding your own, and it's still very early in the season. Keep your heads up. With West Holmes and Wooster still to play, Orrville likely won't be winning the conference; but you can still play competitively and get well prepared for the Division III district.

Prep Baseball Report does have Orrville as the #13 team in DIII:

All we have to do is go 11-1 the rest of the way in the conference. Pressure? Nah!

Heh. Say we split with WH, Woo, Madison and either CF or Lex. Just guessing. That's 8-6 in OCC play. Underwhelming with one of the deepest rosters we'll ever have as a small school where baseball isn't a big deal.

Next 5 are 2 with Chippewa and 2 with Senior, then Triway. Need to win 4 of those 5 at least.

No matter how you slice it and dice it, the team needs to go 11-3 to win it all. If we lose a 4th game, we won't win the conference this year outright. No team is dominant and you can't get swept by teams like Ashland either. We did, so we have to sweep either a Wooster or WH to make up for that. Gotta win at least 5 against Lex, CF and Madison, sweep senior and 3 of 4 against Woo and WH.

We would definitely win against Lex, CF and Madison but there would be a tough fight between Woo and WH,But hope for the best.

Ha, good luck with that "definitely" winning against Lex thing. They're only #7 on PBR for DII. Don't sleep on Madison either.

The conference is very balanced this year. Not too many definite wins or losses.

Orrville split their games with Madison this week. Lost 2-1 Tuesday, won 4-0 last night. They are 3-3 in the OCC and current sit in 5th place behind Lex (5-0), Ashland (4-1), Wooster (4-1)and Madison (3-2). No game tonight against Waynedale. Next game is West Holmes on Tuesday and Wednesday next week.

So are Baird AND Snyder pitching now for WH, or just Baird? With the rest of the conference beating up on eachother I see this coming down to Lex and Ashland.

I've heard Snyder has been pitching, but at this point WH is pretty much out of it. They would have to win all of the rest of their OCC games to even be close.

Hard to call a favorite right now. A lot has to do with the bad weather this spring and games getting bunched up with little or no outdoor preseason work. Any of the top 5 teams could end up winning this. I do think that the team that wins it will have three losses or less. I also think a team could have 9 wins and finish 5 or 6...it is really going to be a tight race. Next week is the mid-point and the biggest games of all will be between Orrville and West Holmes. If either team sweeps that will effective end any chance of winning the OCC. heck a split might ruin the hopes of both teams.

I know Lex is sitting alone on top undefeated. I do believe Wooster and Ashland are tied for 2nd with 1 conference loss each. If I'm Ashland, I'm banging my head against the wall asking "How did we lose to Sr?"

West Holmes and Orrville split this week, Which gives West Holmes 5 losses and Orrville 4 losses, so I have to imagine at this point Orrville, West Holmes, Senior and Clear Fork are all effectively out of the race.:(

Orrville will finish about the exact same as last season, which is pretty disapointing if you ask me. This is probably Marshals most talented team he has had in his tenure and still just an average season in the win/loss column.

4-4.....

Seems a lot like last year.... .500 in the OCC and beat up on the bad county schools we play.

Riders/Triway play tonight.

I wouldn't bet on .500. 4 of the next 6 OCC games are against Lex and Wooster with a combined 1 loss in the OCC. if we drop another 4 or 5 games we could be in the neighborhood of a 6th place finish depending on West Holmes and Madison...but then again, does it really matter if we are talking about a 4th place finish as compared to a 6th place finish? The easy part of the schedule is past us, we should be sitting no worse than 6-2 given what has happened to West Holmes this year. Even 6-2 would be mildly disappointing knowing we played West Holmes, Senior, Ashland and Madison to get to this point.
