Although there are claims that it was/is I don't know that the UN security Council has come to that conclusion.

One can criticize strategy and tactics, but going into Afghanistan was the one military action that was without question justified.

It was, and then the eye was off the ball in 2003-2004. That allowed the Taliban and al Qaeda to reform and adapt. That led to the mess we found ourselves in in 2007-2008.

BTW, one of the best history's of the Operation Enduring Freedom was from the U.S. Army History report, from 2001-2005.

What is happening in Iraq is the inevitable. We are 100% responsible for that clusterfuck too. We killed their people and left the country in complete shambles. Whether we left in 03...or when we did circa 010, Iraqi people were left to live in the shithole we "gifted them".

I brought up Iraq as Maliki wanted the U.S. out, and got it. And, as a result, the country is still very fragile, and has increasing violence. And, no one in the U.S. of importance cares.
Now, Karzai may want to take that option, and he can look at Iraq as an example of what can happen.
He may not like the alternative. It may lead to increased instability if we totally leave.

I didn't miss your point. You missed mine. The efforts in Iraq and now Iran WILL HAVE THE SAME CONCLUSIONS no matter when we pull our troops out. It is one of the costs of invasion and occupation.

Just like in Iraq, the Afghanis have wanted us out for years. Yet, we delay the inevitable.

Whereby the Afghan initial mission was more than justifioed, the ongoing charade..including Mccain's utter nonsense that the "surge worked" continues to bring horror and sorrow to both people over there AND the poor American families of our soldiers that give up their lives through death or permanent war injuries for abslotuely nothing...other than for the pleasure of the corporate military money making machine.
