I was actually at the same tattoo studio on the same day, but afterward, and I got to hear about it straight from Scott, who does amazing work.

It's actually a nice story. The tattoo was supposed to be a tribute to the man's wife, who died in a house fire just a couple months after they were married, but the first guy who did the tattoo did a pretty terrible job. Thankfully, Scott fixed it, and because of the story behind it, did it at no cost.

OK, first looks like a prisoner tat (makes me think of free tat from a "dental" school). It's pretty bad, but I'm kind of shocked there isn't worse.

Second pic is pretty amazing. She looks about 3x hotter than she appears to have been.

On topic: I remember seeing that original tattoo in a "you laugh you lose" thread on sherdog years ago and legitimately feeling bad for guy. Pretty cool to see it pop back up now and see how improved it is.

Yeah, the tattoo has been plastered all over the Internet. It's part of why I thought it was cool that the guy right down the street is the one who fixed it.

If you like tattoos, the man does phenomenal work. Even other artists or shop/gallery owners won't object to me going to him over their place. One even commended me for picking his place over hers.

There's a couple in Fremont. I was wondering where he went. I would have been surprised if he went there that's why.

Gotcha.

It baffles me when people let artists they know nothing about ink up their skin.

I've had both of my tattoos done by people I don't know. I am thrilled with how they turned out. Couldn't have asked for better.

If you go to someone you don't know look through there portrait book to see there work. If they don't have 1 it means there terrible lol

Provided they have a thorough portfolio demonstrating their actual tattoo work (not just their drawings), I think it would be okay.

A friend of mine looked at someones book, did great work. Went with him to get the ink, turned out shitty. Turns out, it wasn't his work in the book.
