It's still not great, but Ideal Body Weight is a little more accurate IMO.
IBW for Males = 106 + (6lbs x inches over 5 feet)
Rule of thumb is 75% of IBW is underweight, 125% is overweight.

^ Of course, but there's no quick, inexpensive, and readily available way to measure body fat content. Hydrostatic weighing is too difficult for normal facilities, air displacement plethysmography is too expensive, dual x-ray absorptiometry is both too technical and too expensive, and bioelectrical impedance and skinfold assessments are both inaccurate. Healthcare providers have to have something to go off.

Yeah. At a shade under 5'10", I can definitely say that when I've been 215, I've been a chub-muffin. But then again, according to BMI, at 170, I'm barely under the obese line (as big as a person could be while not being "obese").Sonofanump;1392893 wrote:215 would be "obese" for 5' 11".
