Girlfriend and I went to Indiana Grand for the first time yesterday and had a great time. Actually came out +$160, so the day was a success.

Anyone have any good stories, strategies or anything like that? Any particular games anyone likes to play?

Im currently at an outlet mall with the girlfriend. There's a casino right across the street, I can't wait to leave this damn mall and head over there.

$25 a hand blackjack for 1-2 hours. Usually come up at least a hundred.

I do have a story......we went for our 15th anniversary to Belterra and it took about 2 1/2 hours to get there, hotel check in blah blah blah. When we attempt to walk into the casino the security dude let's about 20 people thru but decides he's going to check me. Now guess who didn't have their driver's license?

We spent about an hour talking to suited guy after suited guy about letting us in because we were just gonna gamble a couple hundred and head back out elsewhere. Finally, we get to one of the bigger wigs and he walks us to the entrance and welcomes us in like royalty. I told the security guy "thanks man."

Here and there. I've hit Wheeling, Weirton, and Toledo. Columbus will be in the next week or two. I have to take at least 300 or its a waste of time.

I'm risk adverse, dislike the smell of smoke (out of state) and old people; so casinos are rare for me.

The smoking thing kinda surprised me a little bit. I'm not sure of the law in Indiana though.

Poker is really the only game where skill can be consistently rewarded. Theoretically the sportsbook, as well. I guess in terms of ROI for your entertainment dollar, it might be hard to beat a hundred on a game that you then watch for a few hours. Same with horse racing - you can put $10 each on 6-8 races an hour.

Your odds are otherwise the best at BJ, but play long enough and you will almost always lose. Walk away after an hour or two and hope you're up. That's my problem - I just love being at a BJ table and soaking up the atmosphere, which usually soaks my wallet.

Craps can be a lot of fun, but you have to learn how to bet (lots of sucker bets). You'll generally lose, but when you win you can win big so it's another game where the odds are decent and is "affordable" to play (except you'll have big swings).

That's about all I play. I do also enjoy Deuces Wild video poker - but here again you have to learn payout tables so you can play a machine that returns 98-99% on optimal play.

I also like 3-card poker, but you'll lose your shirt and you have to know how to play. Paigow poker is supposed to be break-even according to a buddy (they don't even bring free drinks to those tables), but the one time I played with him it was the worst he'd ever seen and we lost like $100 in 20 minutes.

Lost $350 on the cruise I was on in January, and am down $300 in total at the Horseshoe. I suck. But have found a game where its pretty easy to come ahead, even with my bad gambling skills. Table texas hold 'em where it is you vs the dealer, but the rest of the table shares what they have so it really helps.

They're OK.. haven't been to Ohio casinos yet (even though I live six miles from the one in Cbus...]

Used to take regular trips to Las Vegas with Lady D'Friskies back in 90's, but we later realized it was getting away from the kids and home responsibilities that we really liked. Also - the off-strip casinos still had single-deck blackjack back then, and I could usually rake in enough to compensate for my wife shoveling it back into the slots. Although - she did hit for $1400 on one of the machines next to the boarding gate while while we were waiting for our flight home on one trip!

Supposedly, the Indiana "riverboat" casinos have the worst slot machine payouts in the country. I've also heard that the payout setup on cruise ships are ratcheted down each day of a trip. Don't if that's actually possible....

Did well my one trip to Vegas. Came back up a few grand. Have always lost at the river boats casino's around Cinci. Quickest money ever lost I believe still goes to the dog races in Florida on Spring break.

Girlfriend & I have hit for $60k+ on slots since starting to go to Mountaineer, consistently, in November. In fact, most of that was in November.

As far as 'stories" go, on a Saturday morning, my girlfriend hit triple 10x's on a 3 quarter machine for $6250. Two days later, on a night I really didn't want to go (she coaxed me), I hit the same thing on the machine right next to it ($I've hit about $15k on this machine since playing there).

A week later we weren't having all that much luck and my girlfriend said "take that $200 slip and throw it in the $10 machine. I want to get out of here." Three spins and I hit for $1600. When waiting for my handpay I took that ticket that was in the machine, put it in the next one and first spin hit for $3600. Took that ticket and put it in the machine next to it and two spins later hit for another $500.

Last 'story" was that I hit for $1500 on a 10x's machine on a Saturday morning. We had played our gambling money down, still having the $1500, and it was time to leave. My girlfriend convinces me to go to the buffet for lunch so she can "work on me" as far as staying a little longer. She says "let's play $200 more, $100 apiece. I'll pay you back on Wednesday." So I figured it wasn't coming out of my pocket so WTF? She goes back and hits for another $1500 and 10 minutes later I hit for $3750 on the same machine I hit for $1500 on about 2 hours earlier.

Mountaineer has been kind of "cold" as of late so we've migrated up to Presque Isle in Erie, PA and have been doing very well. Have been to Wheeling, which sucks and have yet to go to the Horseshoe (Cleveland). We'll try Thistledown (Cleveland) when they open their racino in April and am looking forward to the casino opening in Austintown (closest to my house) in 2012.

And before anyone says it "OMG...slots suck...LOL, herp derp....paper shredders....I'd rather lose $500 on cards than win $5000 on slots."

^^ probably didn't happen.

Also, I went to the casino in Columbus and found it to be depressing. Very evident that there were people there who had no business being there.

I do occasionally bet on sports via Bovada.

Not at all. Unlike some of the "kiddies", when I walk into the casino, I come to play. I'm not going in there with $50 in my wallet hoping to hit.

Sports betting is the only way I can get into it. I generally have a good success rate when it comes to gambling on sports. I usually toss $25 into my bovada account and just bet on random games. I have been up into the $100 range a few times and then made a "all or nothing" type bet on a lopsided game, lose, and start the whole process over again.
