I'm going one step further... I will never attempt to make an Olympic team.snugglyhippo;1387894 wrote:... All of that being said, if there is no more wrestling in the olympics, I will never watch them again, summer or winter.

excellent point. Most Americans only pay attention to wrestling every 4 years. With the constant rule changes the casual observer, probably doesn't understand it by the time the next olympics rolls back around.snugglyhippo;1387894 wrote:Change of period duration every 8-10 years. Significant rules changes every 2-3. The ball grab to determine choice. Referees decisions influenced by politics. The "clinch" ot. You can't gut wrench repeatedly...oh, no wait you can...oh, no wait, you can if you do something else first. These and other foolish actions by FILA over the past 30 years have eroded the worldwide interest of wrestling and the ability (or willingness) of the casual fan to pay attention or to even care. Can you imagine if basketball or hockey made such drastic changes? They might be gone from the olympics too. All of that being said, if there is no more wrestling in the olympics, I will never watch them again, summer or winter.

Is racewalking still in there? How boring is that to watch?
Fieldhockey? Give me a break!
Doesn't tradition count for anything?
Everybody needs to go to the olmpic web site and complain!!!!

I know it's old fashioned, but if we're all serious about this what a about a letter campaign. It's one thing to click like on a face book page or sign a petition that an IOC member will maybe never read, but lets put something tangible in their hands. Challenge the young wrestlers in your program who have olympic dreams themselves to fight for their dream and write a letter describing their desire to be an olympic champ and what reaching that goal means to them. We could make it a state-wide project and send them to a leader like Representative Jordan who could then send the letters to the IOC. Just a thought......
