If I had to guess they are doing that to see what feedback they get from viewers about whom to make a regular appearance on the show.

Or they will just keep doing it so they can keep their costs down!

I liked Dave. Yeah, he was an ass alot of times but he seemed to be the best at what he did.

Barry is just the old fart who doesnt do it for the money and is just on the show for his comedic value, however little it may be. He def does the worst of any of them but his situation is diff then the rest as he is just looking for collectibles.

Ya need to have some conflict, someone to be the villian on a show like this I think to make it more interesting.

So I just heard that Darrel, Dan, and Laura were omitted from some of the upcoming shows. I'm thinking the end of the show is near.

I thought Dan and Laura were creators of the show, so that doesn't make much sense to me. Otherwise, they really add nothing to the show.

With Hester gone, getting rid of Darrel would be pretty bad. The personalities are pretty key to all these shows, as rip-offs/spin-offs pretty frequently flop. The only exception I can think of is Antiques Road Show. I think even Pawn Stars and Pickers still rely on the personalities despite telling great stories with interesting/unique pieces.

Storage Wars can't stand on its own without the personalities. Even a lot of the "good" stuff they find is still junk. That the show is still even on - with or without all those original cast - kind of defies logic.

Do the show entirely on Barry. I'd be fine with that. Even include bits about Barry and his car collection or produce business.

The yahoo in the big truck with his doofus fat kid is an idiot. Brandy and her punk-ass boyfriend get an A for effort but have horrible eyes at quickly being able to give something a worth.

There are a lot of BBB claims against Hester online if you look for them. Dude is a crook.

Hester always pissed me off on the show by pumping up the value of things he finds to make himself look good. I remember on the special they filmed they pulled up an item and had people guess it worth and of course Dave couldn't just play along he googled it before giving a price.
