True, but the way I looked at it is that if a guy starts a one-man war against a major metropolitan police department, on some level (barring being utterly batshit insane) he has to know how it will most likely end with that ending being more a matter of time than anything.

He either is dead or probably will be soon, but in his rational, he got some degree of revenge with his killings. And the department completely disgraced themselves with their "shoot the hell out of any vehicle that looks like it kinda might possibly be sort of similar to the one we think he might be using" actions.

And of course none of the news stories I've seen on this today mention the cops nuking a couple of trucks they thought could have maybe possibly sorta been kinda like the one he may theoretically could be driving.

When is it going to end, that cops can shoot you or your vehicle or your dog or whatever the hell they want, whenever? Ready, fire, aim!!!!!

If it weren't being covered, you wouldn't know about it. Your first statement is a self-fail.

Where do you get the idea that the cops who shot the wrong people will go unpunished? I'll bet a frosty beverage that turns out not to be the case.

I honestly have no idea how a police officer can pull a truck over and just open fire.

This guy was in the Navy and pretty much every LAPD officer is fucked.

its war.

Hope the people in those two trucks take those officers and the LAPD for 50 million a piece.

If it were me, I would be dead because I would have run those fuckers over. I wouldn't rest until every single officer involved was charged and convicted of attempted murder. They willfully and knowingly opened fire on that truck with the intent to kill whomever was inside. Bullshit that this isn't a bigger story in the national news and is being swept under the rug.

Nice speculation but I only know that the cops shot up some vehicles because I read it on forums, not because I saw it on the news. Beautiful fail on your part. Flawless almost.

And yeah, we'll see what punishment is. Paid time off or desk duty. I'll bet a frosty beverage it's nothing compared to what a civilian gets if he/she shoots up a couple random folks.

This dude who is wanted for this has a lot of experience in demolitions with his time in the Navy, I've heard. I hope he creeps back to LA and levels a couple precincts now.

They can do it because the corrupt outnumber, or at least overpower the good. I'm beginning to believe the only way to stop these cops is through violence and there aren't enough people willing to fight back in order to change things.

In a way I admire this guy for what he's doing. Though I dont believe in killing innocent people, like he has, when your outgunned terrorism is one of the only options.

You disagree that entities who are outmatched by superior military force turn to tactics of terrorism?

The LAPD has less firepower than south central LA alone. They just are organized in their use.

But that's beside the point.

I'd suggest that if there is a common authority OVER both the undermatched populace and the superior force, you make the change via an appeal there. Not a la violence or terrorism.

If we're talking an autonomous entity, then that may be different.

He made an appeal it was turned down and was handled by the same group who oversaw the case the first time. I saw today he had just bought some new scuba gear. I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't already in Mexico and will keep making a few random killings before he is caught and killed

He made an appeal. If it was turned down, I'd say go above that. Virtually everyone has an authority.

What are suggesting? Vote in some new elected officials or write your congressman? Because that works.

The police and the government are the same enemies. The police protect the state.

It would work a lot better if people actually did it. People elect the same officials under a new name, and NOBODY actually ends up writing their Congressman.

I'd suggest violence with the potential for homicide be a last resort. It certainly has a role in the public's ability to exercise change in their country, but I'd suggest that using it without exhausting peaceful options makes you less of a true freedom fighter and more of a genuine terrorist.

And the police don't protect the state. The military does that. The police protect the existent law.

He's apparently cornered and has wounded two sheriff deputies.

LAPD is going to light this dude up if he doesn't kill himself first, which I don't think he will. He'll die in a hail of gunfire.
