They were 7-3 last year. They were in D-IV, region 13. Although they were 7-3, they finished 16th in the region. Weak competition other than Youngstown Christian, which beat them 31-0. Also there were seven D-6 teams on the schedule. In my opinion, they would be in for a rude awakening in the AAC. Below are their results from last season. The school is in Orwell, Ohio.
/24 A Conneaut (0-10) [3:9] W 14-6
8/31 A Fairport Harding (7-4) [6:21] L 0-49
9/7 H Jackson-Milton (0-10) [6:21] W 30-15
9/14 A Youngstown Christian (9-3) [6:21] L 0-31
9/22 A Gilmour Academy (3-7) [5:17] L 8-21
9/28 H Lutheran East (1-9) [6:21] W 50-24
10/5 A Pymatuning Valley (4-6) [4:13] W 15-12
10/12 A Chalker (4-6) [6:21] W 14-6
10/19 H Mathews (1-9) [6:21] W 45-21
10/26 H Ledgemont (5-5) [6:21] W 21-6

Grand Valley is in Ashtabula county. Campbell already travels up there to Jefferson Area. I have to say that both Grand Valley and Jefferson Area do have nice facilities. But that's a little far to travel.

.....

If there was mandatory scheduling in OVAC, this is the 'league' Steubenville would play in:

Buckeye Local [D3]
East Liverpool [D3]
Harrison Central [D4]
Martins Ferry [D4]
Meadowbrook [D4]
Oak Glen (WV) [D3]
St. Clairsville [D4]
Steubenville [D3]
Union Local [D4]
Weir (WV) [D3]
I think Cambridge [D3] is also an affiliate member of the OVAC. Cambridge and Meadowbrook aren't likely to bolt from their current mandatory scheduling agreement and full-time membership in the East Central Ohio League.

That's part of the problem with the OVAC. A team can easily hold dual membership, since no matter what they schedule, it can't affect their OVAC membership.

However, that's still just a few schools out of 48 that aren't exactly going to tip the boat enough to stop mandatory scheduling if the rest of the league wanted it.

Is there any more news about Steubenville being accepted in the AAC? We need to be in a conference. We have no rivals except Massillon and they are more concerned about Canton McK than they are of us. We have the strange distinction of having played more different teams than any other high school team in America-- 220. Every year it is the same thing. We play whoever will play us. We have played teams from ten states, provinces, and districts. We need to have a stable schedule. That would benefit us tremendously. It would also benefit our opponents because playing us provides a really big paycheck. We never take fewer than 3000 people with us to an away game. It's money in the bank. It also gives your teams the chance to play good competition to prepare them for the playoffs. I hope you'll accept us. It would be beneficial to all concerned.

Big Red will not be accepted to any conference with all that is going on. While terrible things can happen in any community, the reaction to those events (especially by the adults) has been inexcusable. Coaches who knew what happened were allowed to coach the entire season. Reno told kids to hold back what they tell the police, and he is rewarded with an extension. Kids who were at the parties were allowed to play the entire season. Big Red fans were attending rallies in support of the rapists. Why would other schools want to form any association with a school and community that supports these behaviors?

Because of the money. We are a cash cow for any team that plays us. If you play us at your place, you will make a minimum of $18K. That's why Barberton jumped at the chance to play us in their place this year. It's amazing how morality goes down the drain when money is involved.

The morality of the conference hasn't went down. There's no way they get accepted. They shouldn't even be allowed to compete this year if you ask me. Youngstown schools do more than fine with football games lol.

The AAC members have cash cows in their backyards that they choose not to play. I highly doubt that they will allow a school/community that supports rapists and those connected to them to become part of their conference.

Here's an article
http://www.vindy.com/news/2013/may/01/aac-superintendents-approve-expansion/

I
s this all sports? Doesn't specify but I forget what these schools applied for.

Main thing to notice is unsurprisingly, no Big Red

It was all sports.

In order to keep the Polands and Canfields of the world happy, the 21 teams will be divided into 4 tiers. The top tier will have a whopping 3 teams (Harding, Boardman, Fitch), so basically it's like someone recreated the Steel Valley Conference on its death bed, with a loose affiliation to some teams who still want nothing to do with them.

Second tier will be Canfield, East, Howland, Hubbard, Poland (Hubbard can't be happy with that, they live to play down)

Other 2 tiers, containing remaining 14 teams, TBD. Top 2 tiers combine into one for all sports outside of football.

What a bunch of morons

To clarify, Niles and Poland would play everyone in tiers 2 and 3 each year. This would fill 9 of their 10 game schedule and by virtue of that they technically could win either tier.

Looks like the WKBN link I posted yesterday had tiers wrong. Niles would be in 2 (and 3 possibly) while Hubbard will be in 3, which makes them happier.

Steubenville was essentially provisionally denied. Once all of the big schools formally accept, they may be offered into tier 1. I could see them accepting this because it gives them the opportunity to guarantee those 3 conference games, and leaves them the flexibility to schedule a million home games outside of it (unless they will be obligated to play 1-2 tier 2 or 3 teams per year as well)

They should really keep Steubenville out. Would discredit everyone in the conference. If they add Steubenville at least try to get mooney / Ursuline too. Would love to see Steubenville lose every yr to them Fitch and Harding.

My best guess is that Big Red will be accepted. There is just too much money involved. And as far as discrediting everyone else, Big Red will get over this. Once we get rid of Reno, the school will heal real fast.
