For the first time in about 10 years, I have no plans for vacation this year. The family usually goes to Holden Beach every year, but this year we are all going our separate ways to do something different. So, I'm looking for a cool place to go this summer, preferably somewhere not beach related, and I was just in Vegas a couple weeks ago, so that's out as well. What are some of the OC's favorite vacation spots?

I guess Chicago since it's close and we go there more often than anywhere else.

For me, not much can beat going to a cabin on a lake for a long weekend. My dad has one in northern Wisconsin that I use from time to time, nice to just get out and relax.

The wife and I take short trip all the time now (Chicago mostly to see my daughter) but as a family years ago Hilton Head was alway a summer trip.

This coming summer I have planned a family trip to Hilton Head for everyone... all 11 of us...

My family has a cottage on Put-in-Bay, so I spend as much time as possible on the island every year.

For you though, se-alum, my suggestion would be Yellowstone. If you've never been it is an incredible place. Between Yellowstone and Grand Teton, you can easily fill a week. I would suggest staying in Jackson, WY. Awesome little town with plenty to do when you're not in one of the parks. I believe that Yellowstone is our greatest national treasure and everyone should experience it at least once.

If you've been to Yellowstone, then think about Yosemite or Death Valley. Also both awesome parks (and with Yosemite you can do San Francisco and the Bay Area as well).

I agree with the lcoation (including Mackinaw, Mackinac, Petoskey, Sleeping Bear), but we don't even go to the beach.

I've never been, but I'd really like to go to Colorado or Moab, Utah.

My sister lives in Avon, Co. Lots of cool stuff to do there in the warm months.

Beaufort, SC specifically Hunting/Harbour Island.

40 min from Hilton Head, and an hour from Charleston and Savannah.

We've been to Fripp a few times, nice flat beaches, deer running everywhere, gators on the golf course.

Never done Fripp, almost did this past year but stayed on Harbour again. My aunt and uncle live on Lady's Island, he flew F-18s at the Marine air station there. I proposed to my wife on Hunting Island, so its our go to if we need a get away week.

Did you stay in a hotel or cabin? And any recommendations for lodges/cabins? I am looking to get out to Yellowstone, but wanted some firsthand recommendations. Id prefer in the park but not tied to it.

Yellowstone. Since you dont want a beach. St Thomas if you do.

Similar question, who has been to Grand Cayman? We are going there in September.

My family went on a cruise when I was like 9-10 years old. From what I remember, it was a fun time. I'm thinking of going on a 5 or 7 day one through the Caribbean on my honeymoon later this year.

On a side note, I think it'd be pretty sweet to hang out in the city hosting the Superbowl the week before. I follow a lot of the sports media on Twitter and they're all constantly posting about how fun New Orleans has been this week.
