I think there is a real possibility that Durieux (Westerville North) will go to 126. He is certified there and a really tough wrestler.

I think it is more of a matter of who would he beat out? Timchenko, wimer, penzone, kakos, valenti??? There is way too much going on at 120 and he is fresh off injury.

Ok how about not "BACK where it belongs" but "WHERE it belongs" is that better for you Bitter. Sorry someone from up north whooped you and made you a runner up lol. Just kidding.... Don't get bent out of shape.

Yea.... Moeller and ?????? Moeller is going to be good, pretty much always. Tell me how many years a Southwest school came up to Darby and won in the past 10 years when it was a mixed district? Not too many years if I recall. So how is the Southwest better or getting better as a "total" region.

And as you can see were I highlighted in your statement..... Are you saying central ohio coaches aren't as good? I honestly beg to differ. These coaches in central ohio are one of a kind and I promise you that you will not find more passionate and willing coaches anywhere in the state. Say what you want, but you have no idea. 2nd generation wrestlers?? How do we not have 2nd or 3rd generation wrestlers here? I don't get what you're saying I guess.

Relax there big guy, I am just giving my view. I never said central Ohio sucks nor did I say the coaches aren't good/dedicated. This is Ohio after all, there is good wrestling/coaching everywhere. Don't try and tell me I have no idea, I have been following wrestling and participating long enough to have a good grasp.

To add to Moeller, you have Elder who normally has a strong team, mason, Centerville, beavercreek, Fairfield, miamisburg, Harrison, st x are consistently good/great/solid programs. Programs such as Loveland are also coming on strong. Not to mention the D2 and D3 schools such as Graham (ever heard of them?) and Troy Christian.

Also I never said central Ohio didnt have 2nd generation wrestlers (again your panties are in a bunch). My point is SW Ohio really didnt have a tradition of wrestling like NE Ohio, where you have a bunch of wrestling families. You are just starting to see it now in SW Ohio.

Lastly using the Central district is very flawed. For one you are only measuring it based on who wins it???? Also that wasn't a whole representation of the southwest, in fact it was only one sectional of the southwest which only comprised of Dayton schools. If the SW sent all their teams, I guarantee you there would be a lot of Columbus boys staying at home during the state tournament. There is a reason why the SW district as a whole was much stronger than the central district last year when all SW teams wrestled in one district tourney. Hopefully this post doesn't hurt your feelings, but you better get used to it, because the SW is only getting stronger.

It always seems like Central Ohio gets looked down upon from other areas of the state, not just SW. There also seems to be a bit of disrespect when responding to Central Ohio posters from other areas of the state, not just SW. We ALL have our opinions and will rep our area to the fullest...let's just be respectful in our opinions and agree to disagree! JMO

SW Ohio has the same issue as well. I was being respectful with my opinion. I provided my opinion and USMC got bent out of shape with it.

Cent and sw are pretty close imo.
I actually think cent oh preformed better than expected last yr. Remember we added a sectional thus diluting the talent. If you take away the uper weights then cent oh is close. Unfortunately u cant subtract the uppers and throw in the extra upper weight last yr with no dayton sectional and it resulted in a pitiful performance at state from 182_285.
Sw is very strong in the uppers as is ne. I think it has something to do with the football coaches in those areas pushing their kids to wrestle where in cent oh that is more of an after thought.

Exactly...and it makes no sense...football players SHOULD be wrestling, unless they are capable of playing significant minutes for the basketball team!

I know Licking Heights won several state titles in the 70's and 80's and a couple of runner ups as well. I think at one time central Ohio was a strong power.

Actually, I did get whooped by a guy from up north, but I had a Marrysville wrestler in the quarters and I remember thinking that I had an easy trip to the semis because it was a Central Ohio kid. Now that wasn't true, he gave me a good bout, but the perception of Central and SW Ohio from the NorthEast guys back then, including me, was that the couldn't compete with the NE...and this was 20 years ago. There were always individuals, the Holmans, the DiSabitos, the Marinellis, but there wasn't the depth...and I think that's still true today. Although they are closer than they used to be, but I think that's more about NE coming back to the pack.

Only in the lower two Divisions, and most of that success was in DIII (A) with the great Licking Hts and Bishop Ready teams. DeSales had a nice run of teams that were competitve State-wide, but Central Ohio has never been strong in DI.

Bitter,I know nothing about your wrestling career (I kinda sound like Sgt. Shultz) but I totally agree with you on Div.II(AA) & DivIII(AAA) teams. Licking Hts put out some great wrestlers also (B.J.Lewis, Lowe ,J.Starr and Mr. Jamie Kasser). And Jamie is still kicking butt on the international level. It was nice to watch Coach Ash put out those kind of wrestlers from such a small school!

Thank you. I was just curious.

Licking Heights was awesome! A friend of mine, Rich Luft, who was a state champion at Heights actually has all of the original practice itinerary and coaching notes given to him by none other than Ken Ash! Pretty neat stuff.

This would be huge for him! He is already a decent sized 132. If he makes that drop and can be healthy he will be a top contender in central Ohio. Makes since for him to though since 132 has some studs. I do believe 126 is one of the weaker weight classes this year in central ohio so him dropping would be smart and one or two of those 120s should bump. Definitely some talent there.
