If God himself told me to kill you, I would first question my sanity. If I was able to determine that it was actually God telling me to, then I would do it. (If there is a God then I am sending you to heaven/hell so it's not a moral issue for me.)

Is this a repsonse to me? If so, I agree. It's a huge if. Which is why my first thought would be to question my sanity. I think it would depend on how he presented himself to me. If a talking pillar of fire told me to do it, I would be more inclined than if it was just a voice in my head.

Really? A talking pillar of fire? Seek help.

And no, that wasn't a response to you but to the original question.

In the bible God presented himself to the Israelites as a pillar of fire during the exodus from Egypt. A pillar of talking fire would be much more persuasive to me than voices in my head.

Yeah and in Harry Potter the ghost of Albus Dumbledore appears before Harry and tells him a story. Your point?

I would believe the ghost of Dumbledore over a random voice in my head. (seeing is believing, maybe?)

It would take many nights of seeing Dumbledore and many decades in a mental institution verifying his existence before I would even consider the existence of Dumbledore. All it takes for most believers is childhood indoctrination and $100 worth of Christmas gifts every December 25.

Forgive me for being Devils Advocate, but it's who I am.

You say that you would question your sanity? Would an insane person do this? What kind of answer would an insane person get if he asked himself if he were crazy?

Secondly, If God is all knowing, all powerful, all everything.... Why would he ask anyone to kill anybody?

Just sayin...

I do think it would depend on how God presented himself to me. If I hear voices in my head I would probably seek treatment first.

If I was convinced he was real I would not question his motivation.

If a burning pillar starts talking to me I'd also seek treatment.

Or decide that you might be buying weed that's too good. In which case, the only logical option would be to smoke a lot more to build up a bit of tolerance to it, so that kind of shit doesn't happen again. Or at least too often in the future.

There are people I could kill and then just use the excuse god told me to do it. Everyday on my way home from work I think about driving on the sidewalk and taking some people out. I think one day it'll be gods plan and I'll do it.

The irony of course is if you claimed this you may be deemed to insane to stand trial. However, being religious you are considered sane enough to have a job or exist outside of a mental institution. I'd love to see all believers treated for mental illness. It would certainly go a long way in bringing this country back onto its feet.
