Teams: Thomas Worthington, Pick Central, Watkins and Orange will all be in it.
Watkins and Orange tied or almost tied in their dual with OO either winning outright by 1 or on criteria. I think both are better tournament teams than dual teams so either could pull off the team win here. I see Orange winning 113, 120 and 195. If Watkins is healthy now, they can do well. Like Orange, PC and Thomas Worthington, they have three kids who can win their weights, two-three who can/should get second (lieb, george, scott if he's back) and a couple more who could advance assuming their heavy is also back.
The 152 finals here should be a preview of Darby's finals. Yes, you know my pick lol and this could play a role in team points for sure.
132 might be the most balanced weight here, but I think 145 might give 120 a run for being the most talented as a whole. Assuming Driscoll is back and here, I think the finishing order is Pollit, Hammond, Piecyznski, Driscoll.
As far as weight movement goes, is there a good chance Hines goes 106? He looks stronger there for Darby, IMO.

I seriously doubt Hines gets to 106.
In other news, it is being reported that Lancia is going to wrestle 152 AND 160, pinning his way to both titles!

I think Pickerington gets the team title in this one because the number of finalists they end up with. The points received for getting from semis to finals is - I want to say - 12!
120: Dsmith called it... I think seeding is huge here. Leib (WM), Ackley (TW), Kenzerski (O) and Taylor (PC) are all tough. Unfortunately, we know that one of the seeds could end up all alone in a half bracket.

I see PC winning it here with getting anywhere from 8-10 qualifiers to Darby. This all depends some of the draws and how they wrestle that day. I don't think Watkins or Orange have enough individuals to stay up on the board points wise with PC. I don't know too much about TW, but they could give PC a run for the sectional championship. IMO

They will give PC a run for their money. Very solid throughout.

if by "all alone" you mean "with artem" then yes.cruiser_96;1386625 wrote:120: Dsmith called it... I think seeding is huge here. Leib (WM), Ackley (TW), Kenzerski (O) and Taylor (PC) are all tough. Unfortunately, we know that one of the seeds could end up all alone in a half bracket.

No. I meant Artem by himself. It has been the case that the #1 seed - if he chooses - can go on line #1. After that, only #2 is restricted on where he can go.

#2 seed must go opposite half as number #1. After that, things get CRAZY!!!!!! If the #1 seed picks line one, and the #2 seed picks line sixteen, the #3 seed - according to past experience - could go line nine through fourteen. Then, the #4 seed could go on another line not taken by the #2 or #3! So could the #5 seed!!!!!!!
I'm not saying it works out for them, but it is at least possible.
MADNESS!!!!!!!!!!! And oh, so exciting.

Also, as it stand right now - 9:23am on Monday, February 11, 2013 - the first 6 "Bye" lines will be lines #14, #3, #11, #6, #10 and then #7. Those will take care of the remaining 6 lines of the 16-man bracket. After that #15, and then #2 if need be.
Party on, Wayne!

silly me, I thought it would be 1 and 4 on the top and 2 and 3 on the bottom. didn't consider all this craziness about getting to choose lines and what not. I bet we do see 1-5 opposite the big guy!cruiser_96;1386677 wrote:#2 seed must go opposite half as number #1. After that, things get CRAZY!!!!!! Seeding is very important - I still think regardless of how it goes down these 4 get out.
120
----
1. Timchenko
2. Ackley/Lieb
3. Lieb/Ackley
4. Kenderski
5. Terry
6. Stratton
It all comes down to seeding. I give the Freshman Kenderski the advantage over Terry - not sure if they met this year. Lieb or Ackley #2 depending on how they get seeded, although Lieb vs. Ackley would make a good matchup.

I think the only seeding that will matter for 120 will be who gets the 2 and 3 spot because that puts both of them away from timchenko. I think Ackley will make it to the finals but will come up short

You are assuming the #4 (and/or #6) seed does not go in the same half as the #2 and #3.Lateraldrop;1386793 wrote:I think the only seeding that will matter for 120 will be who gets the 2 and 3 spot because that puts both of them away from timchenko. Apparently after 2, they pick where they want to go. So, theoretically, all those guys who feel they have a legit shot at winning the semi would pick the bracket away from artem to duke it out for the right to face him in the finals. Alternatively, i guess they could choose face him in the semis in his side of the bracket and, assuming they lose which they will, then do battle in the wrestlebacks for the right to wrestle for the 3-4 spots...
I imagine they would all go for the bracket away from him because that at least gives them a shot at the No 2 seed going into Darby and with this weight being so loaded in the central district as a whole that could be HUGE

If all the competitive guys (aside from #1) go to the same side of the bracket, then someone eventually loses out via consolations. Only one gets to the finals, and the other guys may wrestle each other BEFORE the 3rd/4th match.
If the #4 guy instead goes to Artem's side and loses in the semis, then I think he gets cross-bracketed away from the hoard of quality kids that all went to the other half-bracket.
What I'm suggesting is that it's best for the top 4 to play it straight, and take separate quarter-brackets.
Am I making sense??

I think the traditional 1 v 4 and 2 v 3 is the only way to go in this particular field.

The kid who loses to artem in the semis will then be cross-bracketed into the consolation bracket to face the winner of a consolation match between two of the kids who jumped to the other half of the bracket to avoid artem...I think... anyway, one of those kids could be good -- likely ackley or lieb good -- making for a tough conso match just to get to the 3/4 match.Blast82.5;1386835 wrote:If all the competitive guys (aside from #1) go to the same side of the bracket, then someone eventually loses out via consolations. of course, if you also go away from artem, then you'll have to beat one of those kids in your own semis!
either way you have to face them. i guess the argument for going opposite artem is you at least have a chance to be in the finals and be a 2 seed at darby. If you go in the top, you're row is just as tough to hoe to place top four, but the best you'll do is 3/4 (and apologies to these other young men but they aren't beating artem).
finally, if you do face artem in the finals here, then i BELIVE that means you're bracketed away from him at Darby.
i'm sure cruiser can add something here! i probably messed it all up! lol!!
anyway, i'm just presenting the counter argument for argument's sake. I'm not sure where I would go if I were placing my 3rd through 5th seeded wrestler here...

Blast: It makes too much sense!
bump and run: The cross-bracketing occurs as the quarterfinal losers drop.

I don't think anyone can argue that.
The sad reality is "2 pretty tough 120's" won't be going to districts

Well if that situation does happen then 120 will be one heck of a weight class. Can't wait to watch it this weekendcruiser_96;1386817 wrote:You are assuming the #4 (and/or #6) seed does not go in the same half as the #2 and #3.
