Registration is the law. They are being forced to participate.

You are getting off track here with criminal activity that is a crime at any age by equating it with activity that is not a crime when the "law" considers one an adult.

Curly J;1375896 wrote:I could be trained with a weapon at 18 when I was in the military and could drink at 18 in South Korea, drink at 19 in Ohio, and have to wait to drink until I was 21 in Utah. So at what age was I an adult?
The South Korean government does not send American kids to war. And those days are gone here in the states. The federal government now sets the national drinking age. Signed into law by yours truly Ronald Reagan.

But the Government will let you get tried by 'Law' as an adult. Hell maybe even for Federal Crimes. Hmm

No, not Americans, but The ROK does have a Mandatory Service unlike us USA Americans who are only required to sign up at age 18 and haven't been required to join the Military or have been drafted since the 1970's.

I'm trying to figure out since when the drinking age dictated the age you are an adult. If that was the case then no one should drive until they are 21, or have sex until they are 21. I didn't know that's how the Government decided that was when you were an adult. Was that in the same legislation that Reagan signed stating when you are old enough to drink only then you can be considered an adult? Guess I missed something, kinda like the Draft that is occurring.

Why be forced to register? Abled bodied Americans will volunteer in droves in a national emergency.

Because it's the law, and women want equality. So, if they are now able to fight on the front lines, and they want equality, then let them be forced to register just like men.

Yes. Again you are talking about criminal activity that is a crime at any age.

Personally I don't care what the ROK does. If the North Koreans invaded they will have no shortage of volunteers.

I was making a point. Gochiefs got it. But in truth of law you are not fully an "adult" in every way under the law until you have the ability to legally engage in all legal activities. I don't make the laws. Nor do I agree all of them.

Menstrual cycles, blowjobs in the fox holes, pregnancies galore, emotional ties, men programmed to protect women, not to mention the physical inferiority of the vast majority of women is just the short list.

Not to mention Newsmax's poll which shows a 3 to 1 ratio against women on the front line.

I can buy this logic. But if and when the time ever comes it will be over my sons and I's dead bodies that my daughter is forced into service. That is the mindset of men. If she volunteers well I can accept that.

If a woman wishes to fight on the front lines and earns the right to do so, why should a person deny her that based on her gender?

Taking the good and the bad, equality is equality.

I’m not sure what to think about this …. I personally feel some women would be able to hand the stress, pressure and physical endurance. It’s the mental torment, physic aftermath at concerns me. What I find interesting is those that make a decision like this never experiences “extended” combat situation. Panetta was an office in Army Intelligent he never witnessed the last breath of a dyeing soldier, mutilation of a fire fight or the enemy last nerves twitch in their own blood. Easy to read about it, be advised by others who most likely never witness death at their own hands and to tell someone else what they think but without first hand, real combat back ground it just bull shit theory.

I hold women with at the highest esteem, I know I would not want my daughters and granddaughters to experiences what I have seen and done.

The more and more we move away from instinctive standards the more we become less of a society

Me get real? Haha. So a female who volunteers and passes all the same physical and mental tests that a male does, should be denied because they might give blowjobs in a foxhole? YOU get real.

Nor do I. But if a woman WANTS to and is CAPABLE of doing so, why should you deny her that?

Note: I’m not sure what to think about this

I haven't denied anyone I'm wondering about the long term and the backlash of this in the future. Have we thought about this and all the potential problems, legal, behavioral, emotional.... or have they just coward to political correctness for future political gains. I could see hundreds of military court trials on this issue, personal claims and law suits lining up …. on both genders

The problem is that women in the military ALREADY have lower physical standards that they have to pass.

Yes I understand that. And I have stated multiple times I disagree with that. But the issue being discussed is no women at all allowed.

Exhibit A of why women shouldn't be allowed in combat roles. It's an emotional response by men to protect women AT ALL COSTS and we can't have that perusing the minds of men while we are trying to win a war.

Nope. Not at all. Gay men can be on the front line, Quit ASSuming anything. And your corollary drawnhere is very weak......... I'll give you this much....If Martina Navratilova types, (incredible athlete) want to serve, an argument can be be made. But a very poor one indeed. There are several mitigating circumsrtances that make it a huuuuuge losing proposition. And yes, blow jobs in the fox hole is one of them.

Sexual attraction, emotional attachments, jealosies, break ups, assaults, date rapes, the cultural belief that we have ingrained in ourselves for a man to protect a women (one could argue innate), and yes the physiological realities of monthly menstruation all contribute to the fact that women do not belong on the front lines.

There is plenty of other shit for them to do if they want to serve the military industrial complex.

Of course in my view, and probably yours as well, our military doesn't need ANYBODY on the front lines right now. But that's for a different thread.
