Definately will need to stay healthy! Still have not heard a "for sure" at the QB position and thats not good. I feel confident that this group of seniors are determined to not let another 1-9 happen again this season.RedRider1;1466528 wrote:Cleve Lincoln West better be a win
Triway & Northwest are winnable but will be a toss up....as will Lexington.
It's no stretch to be 4-0. But start me off 1-0 & healthy and take it from there.
Weeks 5, 6 & 7 will be the gauntlet as always. At Senior, At West Holmes & home to Ashland.
I think best case after week 7 is 4-3....and I don't think that's being overly optimistic.
Imperative we stay healthy or we could easily be 1-6.

I STILL LOVE CANDY!!!
I also remember the parade and carnival marking the end of leisure time. What I mean is I seem to remember 7 on 7's and real work starting pretty soon after the smell of elephant ears and cotton candy have left the ville. The sound of pads cracking and the stale odor of practice pants and jerseys is right around the corner. Three man, Bernie drill, shedding the team, bear crawls, burpees, step downs, Indian runs "around the complex men".....The fog on the practice field rising during the morning session of two adays! Soon it will be the smell of freshly cut grass and popcorn filling the air on a Friday night. Still gives me goosebumps. Yep, its almost football season!

Well, perhaps you should be in the parade to help get the "Yes to the Levy" vote out since you "care what happens to the community"!rrfan;1466797 wrote:series I am not in the parade. I care very much what happens to the community, especially since I live in it!
The chairs out early, that's nothing new.

Well some of that great stuff can't be done anymore because of idiots that are worried someone might get hurt feelings. You probably won't see shedding the team again, just like the dummy in the square. Have to try and please everybody and what happens is everyone gets soft! It showed last year on the field. Sad but true. Just ask Series he is on the committee of sucking the life out of any tradition that could hurt feelings. It is people like that that don't want to keep score so the other team does not know how bad they suck. It is a joke and a sad state of affairs. This is not directed at Orrville it is happening everywhere today.sanitizer;1466839 wrote:I STILL LOVE CANDY!!!

It's more thought provoking conversation then the annual "remember when" for the umpteenth time and the "crystal ball" guessing games of the teams record. Many of your crystal balls were scratchy and blurred last year! LOL!!!RedRider1;1466817 wrote:Can always count on you for thought provoking discussion.

No, to the season tickets! I may attend an occasional home game, that's all, and even then, I have a friend that can get me in on a gate pass! WoooHooooo!!!

Much of that "great" stuff can be and still is done today. You've never heard me speak against shedding drills or any of that type of activity.rrfan;1466871 wrote:Well some of that great stuff can't be done anymore because of idiots that are worried someone might get hurt feelings. As far as the "hanging the dummy in the square all day"...
When I met with the Supt. and the school board members, there were three of us that spoke against a "tradition" that in the end looked rather shameful in this day of "civilized men"! Ask your Supt. and the late Coach Smith's wife!
Again, if that "tradition", the only one I have had issue with, is such a landmark, why don't you and all that miss it so much form a committee and petition the managers of PNC Bank, the credit union across the street, First National Bank, Heartland Point, etc, and the school board itself and see how they feel about supporting what looks like a lynch mob in front of their place of business.
And if you fail there, you can always hang a dummy from your front porch or tree at your house and have activities! No one can stop that "tradition". Until then, give it a rest and go sit in the corner and cry as you've obviously become "soft" too! I understand that "your feelings are hurt" rrfan, however I doubt that it's going to change!
What showed on the field last year is not a result of not having your stupid tradition, it is a result of the coaches not being able to motivate and teach the team and making poor play calls that most of the team probably recognized as such.

You could have had Knute Rockne coaching last year and the record would have been the same. You have to have some talent (we all know that Short was the next coming but lets get real). You want to power run the ball with no offensive line? Great our punter will get a good work out every Friday. You have to coach to what you have, so please tell me what you had last year? I will tell you, you had a small team that did not work as hard as they should have. You had a couple "talented" players who would not have touched the field on a decent Orrville team. You had injuries and kids who expected if they showed up someone would give them a blue ribbon. It does not work that way! These kids have to get some "dog" in them. They have to want it, and work to get it and until they get that you can keep blaming all the coaches, but it is parents like you that would go and complain that the coaches are to hard on them...or playing favorites...we have herd it all before.Series62;1466910 wrote:Much of that "great" stuff can be and still is done today. Some of you men could use some "Smitty" treatment.... Lock a few of you in the wrestling room and have ya put in a little work. And when you come out IT'S DONE! LOL! We are all passionate and that is awesome but find some common ground fellas. Last season is over and now we owe our respect and efforts to the young men and coaching staff that are putting in the time, hard work and sweat to try and represent themselves and our little town on Friday nights.
In closing, I love you all and I still love free candy!!!

Let's say it this way...the Red Riders football team had a very good chance of being at least 2-8 last year and had at least one victory on their brand new turf...if...if...the coach or coaches could have recognized that small offensive line included, Triway could not stop the run! One rb had 6 runs for 72 yards in one possession and scored a TD, Old Rider stated the week before the game that Triway couldn't stop the run, West Holmes ran for +450 yards against Triway, did Orrville not have scouts at that game, didn't any coaches at least read the stats in the paper that Saturday after, but your illustrious coach didn't seem to have a clue or maybe he didn't care. How many of the football team do you really think missed that coaching malfeasance? Perhaps the coaches didn't have any "dog" in them either and therein, the students probably were doing what they were taught!rrfan;1466918 wrote:...You want to power run the ball with no offensive line? You obviously don't know what type of parent we are! The one and only time I spoke to Coach Davault was because of the blatant unfairness received by my son. After that, he played on the team until the end of the season. My comment to him was, "whether you do or do not play football again in your Junior year, I will support you". His sophomore year he went to "state" in track, competed in the finals in 4 events, same thing his Junior year and as a Senior, to the finals at "state" in 3 events.
I'm not for being "soft" on a student/athlete...I believe in hard work, being fair and doing what is right!
Yes, they have to want it, and work hard to get it and as long as favoritism is obvious...I'm not complaining, I'm stating the obvious!
Knute Rockne would have gotten them to play for him also!

For as much as you talk about getting the levy information to the people, this is a prime opportunity for you and others to reach a captivated crowd with a nice fact-filled poster and, believe it or not, "some candy"! All you have to do is to slowly walk/drive +/-1 mile, for about +/-1 hour. People can read the facts and you'll either get cheered and thumbs up, or booed, thumbs down and possibly pelted with "candy"!RedRider1;1466919 wrote:A smart ass comment about being in the parade is interesting??

Actually, I believe the school/board/admins/etc has planned to have a presence in the parade tonight in some way , so I think we will all get a chance to boo/clap/flip the finger/throw candy back at them/etc...Series62;1467013 wrote:For as much as you talk about getting the levy information to the people, this is a prime opportunity for you and others to reach a captivated crowd with a nice fact-filled poster and, believe it or not, "some candy"! Did you watch WH last year? Orrville and WH were not on the same level last year. Your comparison is terrible. Please explain the blatant unfairness your son received. There is the not so hidden agenda as to why you attack the coaches everyday.Series62;1467007 wrote:Let's say it this way...the Red Riders football team had a very good chance of being at least 2-8 last year and had at least one victory on their brand new turf...if...if...the coach or coaches could have recognized that small offensive line included, Triway could not stop the run! Is a parade really a place to convince anyone of anything?
When's the last time you made a business decision based on a parade float?
Of course for some free candy or maybe a can of Mountain Dew, I'm sure plenty of people could be convinced to vote for the levy. Maybe they'll load up a canister full of Marlboro's & soda and just launch them into the crowd.
Blatant unfairness?? I'd like to know more about that too. Guessing dad thought one way & the coaches thought another. PERHAPS??
And since when does track success = football success. Football speed & track speed are very different. We've had lots of track kids compete at state that just weren't good football players for one reason or another...the least of which being bias....but whatever you have to tell yourself I guess.

Track helps a good athlete in any other sport they play. Speed can transfer, however it does not mean that athlete can catch, or is willing to hit and be hit. That is the difference.RedRider1;1467063 wrote:Is a parade really a place to convince anyone of anything?

If speed was all that we needed, we'd have a gym full of state title banners. Our track program is awesome.
Andrew Brown won state in track...did he even play football? He should have been an awesome football player using Series' logic.
