I fully expect this team to make the playoff! You are the only one talking about the Super Bowl.

He's not being soft on the kids, just trying to preserve kids for Friday night. A senior should know how to tackle.....period.

Season has gone pretty much as expected..if not a bit better. Some of us predicted 4-0 was very possible, and it happened...and we knew these last 3 would be tough...and they were. So we're basically sitting right where we thought. It's just reality. Senior, WH and Ash may all be playoff teams. No shame in losing to schools more than 2x your size.

If we get 6 wins, we're in. Fantastic50.net projects us as having 6 wins....favored by 8 this week vs. Madison, then by 2 over Clear Fork and by 1 over Wooster (the last 2 are basically toss up games).

I know the 'next game' is most important, but I truly think the game this week at Madison defines the season. Win this and it take a world of pressure off. Lose this and you have to go to Clear Fork (never easy) and beat your rival to make it to the playoffs....no easy task. If we lose this week, we probably finish 4-6. Kids need a win bad.

My concern is offensively we haven't been very good the last few weeks. 16 vs Lex in the rain, 0 vs Senior, 16 vs. West Holmes (not counting the kick return) and 10 vs. Ashland. 42 in our last 4 games, less than 11 per, isn't going to get it done most weeks. The only saving grace is that these were against easily the best 3 teams in the league.

Fantastic50 also is projecting we face 1 seed COLDWATER in the first round. A rematch of the '98 state title game. That would be very interesting.
You cannot simulate real game tackling throughout the week of the size, strength, and speed you will face against Senior, West Holmes, and Ashland by not hitting and tackling your own in practice PERIOD!

I do believe it is a fine line they have to walk. Although I am from the old school of you have to hit in practice...I understand what they are trying to do with not getting people hurt. This team is NOT DEEP. Any injury is a bad injury but with this team it may hurt more then in many other years.

Bottom line is everything we want is still on the table. Beat Wooster, Playoffs go get it boys.

I know Fantastic 50 believes 6-4 gets us in but I disagree...I think we need ALL 3 to make it. We should get some help from John Marshall the remaining 3 weeks as they play Lincoln West, Rhodes, and East Tech. Those are winnable games for them IMO.

We can't worry about the other teams though. We control our destiny these last 3 weeks and if we take care of business we are playing in week 11 and there is NOT ONE PERSON who would have said that at the beginning of the season other than the boys on that team and the coaches. 2 goals can still be accomplished....Beat Wooster and Make it to the playoffs...LETS GO RED RIDERS!!!

End of discussion! LOL, this is as true as anything on this thread. You know what erases bad feelings???????? Winning. This team has come A LONG way since last year and I for one am proud of my home town football team. It is all on the table for the Red Riders.... Time to get greedy and mean! RTR!!!

FULL PADS!!?? Is the coach trying to get kids hurt?? We have no depth. We should be saving kids for Friday nights!

We're worse than Rittman. Might as well just cancel the football program.

The Madison game is huge, but don't take them lightly. They were awful when I saw them against Wooster, but they have some team speed. They seem to have improved and gained confidence over the last two weeks.

Seems to be very true. Offense has struggled all year. Need some big improvement here this week.

I think the key this week will be like everyone has said OFFENSE, and keep the defense off the field, (although most of our guys are play both ways so they are on the field anyhow), we need to jazz the offense up a little, we are a smidge predictable, getting Zook back will add to that mix, and I think good things happened this week at practice, boys seem ready to get at it.

On a side note Ramsdell kid started on defense last week thought he did a nice job, switch in and out with I think JJ, kids a freshman. lots of freshman stepping up this year, nice to see.

Key to beating Madison is through the air, in my opinion. I'll be shocked if they throw five times. Aren't they down to their third QB or something? They're like West Holmes - don't try to beat them at their own game. That's what they practice against all week.

Hearing that Zook is only going to play Defense. Is that true?

He will be playing defense for sure and maybe as a blocking back on offense for at least this week. Wouldn't be surprised to see him in the slot.

Even if defense only, he'll be good to have back.

Clear Fork ran the ball well against them and I think we can do the same, but we need to move the chains and keep our own defense from having to spend the whole game on the field.

I think it is interesting reading that we need to keep the defense off the field more and then reading Rider Dad's comment:
"although most of our guys play both ways so they are on the field anyhow".

Perhaps that makes the point "mute"! :-)

Speaking of "perhaps":

Attempt at comedy...............fail.

Here's some comedy:

What you put in place of the "m" is what you constantly act like you are on when you post here.
