Bars and Burgers</SPAN>
Back in the good old days a hamburger in almost any bar was good. Many bars had their own special take on the burger or special sandwich. </SPAN>
In my area place like Sport Bar, Cameo Grill, Mill Bar, Eckards and Mayfair Inn, John Bar, Golden Pheasant, Rumors and the Palms just to name a few had great burgers or sandwiches. </SPAN>
In your general area (5 miles radius)what bars have great hamburger or special sandwich? </SPAN>

The best burger near me is at a place called "The Diamond". The cooks are formally of a placed called "The Penguin" which blew up after being on Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. They got ousted by the owner's who wanted to franchise due to popularity from their TV appearances but the cooks/management who ran the day to day were against franchising. So they all quit and bought The Diamond which was an old abandoned restaurant right around the corner from their last employers.
However the best burger I've ever had is down in Atlanta at Holeman & Finch. All fresh ingredients brought in daily, only 24 are made a day and served at 10PM.

Terry's Turf Club
Zips
Gordo's

I plan to try the top five places on this list eventually. So far I have had Swenson's (good, but I am not obsessed like most) and Hodges Cafe (really delicious). I think Whitey's Booze and Burgers will be next. I have heard amazing things.

There are no bars or restaurants within' a five mile radius of my house. Best burger I've had though is at a place called Burger Up in Nashville.

Great place in our town called McSobers. They have a number of sandwiches and most are named after the current/former owners. Upchuck burger is a good eat....big sirloin burger with sauteed onions and mushrooms, topped with ranch dressing.

Wanted to go here when I visted a friend in MPLS last year. She took me to The Blue Door Pub for their "Juicy Blucys" which was pretty good. Check that one out and compare it to Matt's if you ever go back that way.Tiger2003;1371971 wrote:Jucy Lucy at Matt's Bar - Minneapolis

TBDP is good, Matt's is a different experience IMO. Matt's is as basic as you can get, the only choice is whether you want fried or raw onions really. TBDP gives you a bunch of options if I remember correctly (kind of like 5-8). It comes down to personal preference but for me Matt's is the best.mucalum49;1371982 wrote:Wanted to go here when I visted a friend in MPLS last year.
