Where if you interview 10 coaches and all of them are non-whites = NOT RACIST.
If you interview 10 coaches, none of them are non-white = RACIST.
If you interview 10 coaches, half are black, half are white and you don't hire the non-white = RACIST

Sorry, but anyone who supports or condones the Rooney rule is a racist and fuckhead. When will minorities grow up and be treated like everyone else instead of having rules put in place to give them jobs based on the color of their skin? Fighting racism with more racism, genius!

Jim Caldwell nearly went undefeated as a rookie coach in Indianapolis three years ago and he's one win away from returning to the Super Bowl as an assistant with Baltimore.

Yet Caldwell didn't get one interview for any of the eight coaching vacancies in the NFL this year.

"That's almost impossible for me to comprehend," John Wooten, chairman of the Fritz Pollard Alliance Foundation, told The Associated Press on Friday.
The first sentence is hilarious, because he was as close to being winless in his 3rd season as he was to being undefeated in his first.

Agree..the RR is stupid. This is 2013, teams aren't secretly going, "Okay guys...lets find our coach. No Negro's."

Of course, Stephen A. Smith is "appalled" that no black coaches were hired this time around.

Sorry that white people actually work hard to establish relationships and networks whereas black people just expect to be given something because of the color of their skin. Like I said, when will minorities stop having their hand held and step up to reality?

@chrisrock: Andy Reid wins 4 games and everybody wants him Lovie smith wins 10 games and can't get a job.

Not against nor in favor of RR but after reading this thread I checked twitter and this was one of the first tweets I saw. LOL

Maybe Lovie has been handed everything to him in life because of the color of his skin and doesn't know how to handle himself in interviews or build a network with GMs and owners.

Why not apply the Rooney Rule to NFL positions? Minorities have no problem making up 80% of the league; shouldn't NFL teams have to interview a white RB/WR/CB/etc. before the draft? And if they decide not to draft a white RB, threaten with a lawsuit? After all, have to make things fair and about race.

Yea the RR is dumb and Stephen A is the biggest shithead on TV. Also lol at Lovie being compared to Reid. I wish people would try to educate themselves even a little bit before they go and say dumb ass shit.

I tend to agree although by the numbers Lovie isn't all that far off in comparison. Reid won 58% of his games vs. Lovie's. 56%. Each had 3 losing seasons although Reid has coached longer and had more winning seasons. Each lost a Super Bowl. I agree that Reid has the better career and resume but stats don't show as much of a disparity as I thought there might be.

EDIT: Reid won 59% of his games, not 58%.

so, now the NFL is going to mandate that you have to hire the black guy? Wouldn't that piss you off, the only reason you are getting an interview or hired is because of some rule? How about we let NFL teams hire whoever the hell they want.

Just trying to create equal outcomes instead of equal opportunity. In the nfl, the owner/gm only has an incentive if winning. Neither cares if you're white/black/Mexican/woman/gay if it means they will make more money. Period. Maybe there is a reason the black candidates aren't getting hired. If anything the nfl is a good ole boys network, ie shitty Crennell getting another job after cleveland. Like in life, it's about who you know not what you know. Tired of these stupid race arguments.

I think if you look at it as a whole the Rooney Rule is "working".

It's the most racist thing since affirmative action. Typical liberal thinking he has to make issue where there isn't to be the better person. I didn't know the color of your skin makes you a candidate to a position that only 32 in the world exist.

Agree with sleeper on a Rooney rule for players too.

I don't think there are 32 nfl coaches better than Lovie. Not sure why he didn't get hired this year but I'm 100% sure the reason isnt because he's black.

Political bullshit stays in the political forum. You can make the exact same point without all of the retarded buzzwords.

At the time the Rooney Rule was a good thing, but it could probably be done away with now.
