I think this story was made up by Te'o. Why I have no idea but things just don't add up. If it was a ruse what was the payoff? "Hey let's make a random football player look like an idiot without asking for money or anything." It just doesn't add up. Te'o had to have done it himself but I can't put my finger on why he would do this. Very bizarre case indeed.

Dan Tudesco, a 2006 graduate who now works in public relations in New York, set up an online account at fundraising website indiegogo.com on Jan. 9 to solicit $5,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Inc. The initial pitch said donations would go to the society in memory of Lennay Kekua and in honor of Te'o, "two individuals who have been an inspiration to us through an iconic season."

According to reports, much more funds were raised than the initial $5k. Where is the money, and what are they doing to refund the money to the people conned out of the money?

More evidence that our society is full of retards.

So if I'm reading that correctly, the anonymous player is saying that basically Te'o knew of this girl online that he chatted with, and when she died, he took that opportunity to call her his girlfriend and blew it out of proportion?

He sure had me fooled, I honestly didn't think he was like this. What an arrogant prick.
In September, the grandmother of Te'o died, and it was widely reported that his girlfriend died hours later. Media outlets pounced on the story as Notre Dame began its march to the title game. After Deadspin.com broke the hoax story, however, multiple media reports have said players thought that Te'o had only met Lennay Kekua once and that it wasn't really accurate to call her his girlfriend. But as condolences poured in, Te'o "played along," according to the teammate, who wished to remain anonymous. The teammate portrayed the move as part of the All-American's personality, telling ESPN that Te'o liked attention so much that he would sometimes point himself out to friends when he was on television.

I can't tell you how bad I hope either Cowboys or Steelers draft him. He fits in with all the other cancers on those teams. I would think ND fans would want him at Dallas just because most ND fans root for them.

Dallas and Pitts have lockeroom cancers?

News to me. Pittsburgh is pretty solid come draft time. They Rooney's wouldn't touch Te'o ever.

Someone will still scoop him up. Early to mid 2nd round would be my guess.

I'm hearing he's dropped from a guaranteed 1st round pick to late 2nd early 3rd. Who knows what will happen when the media keeps digging on this story.

One of my buddies from college works for the Seahawks personnel department. Te'o is pretty much the joke of the NFL right now as far as potential draft picks. Sorry that's your hero!

There is now a rumor out there that Te'o is gay and he didn't want to be the first openly gay player in the NFL. This whole charade was designed to steer the public towards believing he's heterosexual.

If that's true I truly feel sorry for him.

I'd be shocked if he dropped past the 3rd although its certainly possible. Not every team in the league cares about character; see: The Dallas Cowboys, Bengals, and Raiders.
