Well, how much of the NCAA limit on scholarships came into play on this one?
He could still sign, he would just have to wait until the fall.

Looks like a senior was going to stay on, and USC, with the restriction, had to hold up and say wait until the fall.
The douche move is not telling the kid until late.
But, hell if the kid wanted to head to USC really badly, wait until the fall, take the spring off or something.

Pat Haden is the bafoon here. Yesterday, he fired the wrong head coach. The top ranked football team went 7-6.

He gets his scholarship in the fall. I see nothing wrong with this. But they at least should have told him from the get-go, that his scholarship would not be effective until the fall after his senior HS year.

It was effective until they got a 5 star safety commit at an all American game that also wanted to early enroll.

If this happened in the fall, I would say it is BS. Just stay in HS, and come back in the fall when your scholarship is effective.

He's already graduated from high school.

That's why it's so shitty, 'cause they didn't. That, and this...
Fitts talked to a couple USC coaches at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Jan. 5 and they said they were ready to have him on campus

Then work out on your own, live with your parents, and come to campus in the fall. Big deal.

If he would have enrolled early, they'd have 76 on scholarship right now. They don't have room for him.

The kid did all the extra work to enroll early, because he was told he would be able to. Two weeks ago he was told everything was ready, then they just shut him out. It's a big deal because kids enroll early to get in and learn the system, and have a better chance to actually play during the season. It was a dick move by Kiffin and USC.

For the life of me I have no idea how Lane Kiffin was hired at Tennessee, let alone USC. That guy must have pictures of some AD in a precarious position. The guy's done nothing in his life and was hired at two "top" programs.

...and if Chip Kelly's announcement today is an indication of bad things on the horizon, I wonder how long it'll be before Oregon's joining them?

What was his announcement? I know that google.com exists, but ohiochatter.com/vball10set is quicker.

With one of those programs (Tenn) having fallen to (at best) second tier in their conference since he's been there and the other (USC) looking pretty damn mediocre with him as coach last year.

It's turning into one of those things where I want ANY program I dislike to hire Kiffin for a year or two, just so they can both get infractions and completely fall apart.

Lane Kiffin was never a good coach. Not sure why USC and Tennessee were sold on him.

I was saying it all pre-season. There is no reason USC should have been a #1 ranking (or title contender) as Lane Kiffin has yet to prove anything as a coach.

He's the John Calipari (the "flash" required for recruiting and certain slimeyness about him) without the in game success.

SC offered the freshman sister of Eddie Vanderdoes a basketball scholarship.
