Therein lays the problem. They aren't exactly objective with a non-vested interest on the subject. The vast majority of these procedures ARE non-asymptomatic. And as far as cost/benefit, that is somewhat dubious because there are also risk/complications from the surgery. Sorry, but the dental industry is rife with upselling and recommending non-essential (worthless, in some cases) procedures and tests. There are a lot of good dentists out there, but there are also a lot looking to part you from as much money as they can.
