So close, damn it, 9 yards short. Peterson HAS TO BE MVP. This guy has carried this team.

9 yards short.

Regardless, what he's done this year is a minor miracle considering his injury and how late it happened last year.

Whew.

Eric Dickerson celebrates....at least for another year. This freak just came off of knee surgery.

Outstanding show Mr. Peterson....outstanding!

I wonder....did he not really know.....OR did he think he surpassed the record when someone picked up him and carried him off the field and he was like WTF I thought I had it!? AFter that run I wondered if it was enough...and then when I saw him get lifted up I thought 'well. he musta done it'.

I'm pissed they didn't call timeout with 11 seconds left and run it one more time.

So he could possibly fumble and then they not have a chance to win the game? I wanted to see him get it too, but you still have to coach for the win with the playoffs on the line.

Same. Couldve sworn there was more time than 11 seconds too. I thought it was about 18.

Nah.....this guy trains like few others and believe he can get 2500 yards.

Not getting injured will be tough....but Eric Dickerson will be sweating again next year.

For a myriad of reasons things just happen and this will be his best shot by far to get the record. Doesnt mean he doesnt train hard or that he will have 'down' years but things have to break right to set a record like that. He can still have monster years but too much goes into play to just think he automaticall get close again. Ponder is getting better and the team will throw a little bit more going forward. May be more games when the defesne gives it up and they have to pass and not run as much.

Just some seasons are magical and this was his short. Think about it.....just a little big over a HALF A YARD A GAME is all he needed!

I get all that...I'm just saying only injuries will keep him from breaking the record over the next two seasons.

Agreed. You really need the stars to align to break a record like that. He'll have more great seasons, but I don't think he'll ever break it. Too many things need to go right.

Nah. I will place a wager, of both of us will forget, and doubtful the site even lasts long enough, that he wont break 1850 the next two full seasons he is healthy.
Dont get me wong.....am an AP fan and was hoping he would, but this was his shot
