Again. We all agree.

The problem is that more people were involved and the authorities haven't done much/any investigating at all. Because the authorities refuse to investigate everybody involved, Anonymous is making sure that they are not able to wash their hands and walk away. Much more to this story than what Steubenville or the cops in town would like you to believe

Which goes back to the authentication angle. Robin Hood doesn't exist in our world. If one wants to play the role of a cop, be a cop. You can't commit a crime to prevent crimes without suffering consequences - this isn't Batman. Certainly with our technological advances photos can be manipulated, photoshopped, yadda yadda yadda, if they have photos they should in good conscience show their validity. But if they are unwilling, I'm not sure what good internet shaming does.

Okay, so now this is where the argument should be going. I don't think in general Anonymous has much more credibility than the authorities. But with the information out there in this case, it does appear that Anonymous has more credibility than the local authorities in Steubenville. Essentially Stuebenville is losing a social media and public perception battle.

And a couple of the factors that give Anonymous credibility is their recent history and the lack of a dog in the fight so to say. They don't win or lose anything on the outcome of this. They just saw what they think is a wrong and are trying to bring lots of attention to it.

Things working against Stuebenville would be the reaction of a local authority when 1st trying to report it. The social media texts and pictures regarding that time period. And the recent crucifixion of football machines being bigger than the criminal justice system (i.e. Penn State).

But as I said, this isn't about trying to prove a case in a court of law for Anonymous. This is about societal pressure. But one potential goal for Anonymous is that their societal pressure they bring down would convince some individuals in the area to "do the right thing" and hopefully this would turn into the criminal justice system operating correctly.

What part of "AUTHORITIES HAVE DONE NOTHING" do you not understand? The cops, that wanted to be cops, have chose to sit on their asses and sweep this under the rug. They would rather let those that committed the crimes get away without suffering consequences because they play on the football team. THE COPS THAT CHOSE TO BE COPS IN STEUBENVILLE HAVE SHOWN TIME AND TIME AGAIN THAT THEY HAVE NO INTEREST IN THIS CASE.

Again, don't know much about Steubenville, but from the NYT article I read, there was potential evidence for the Feds to come in. With the VAWA and an interstate crime, there could possibly have been a federal action.

He needs to read the link posted where a rape victim went to a sergeant in Steubenville and he told her to "come back next thursday, I have to clean my gutters."
