I think I've heard wes and bigdaddy discuss their opinion of Basterds about 27 times.

I'm glad everyone likes this one, though. I'm gonna check it out this weekend.

Saw it. Excellent acting. Christoph Waltz stole the show. What an amazing actor.

To Spike's credit, He Got Game and Inside Man were both excellent films. Spike Lee can direct.

What makes you say that?

Agreed.

He reviews every terrible movie and says they're great. If he reviews this movie, then you know to stay away.

I thought it was pretty good. As stated in this thread, Christoph Waltz is very good. His character here is similary to his character in Basterds in that he is much more clever than his station in life would suggest. However I felt the Django character was written too similarly to the Basterds one. Still Waltz is great. DiCaprio has another solid performance as he always seems to have and Jamie Foxx is fine in his role. Overall, I thought the movie was a little bit of a show off for QT and not as sound as IB or Kill Bill (his revenge flicks). A nice surprise was Don Johnson's character.

QT is solid and dependable. That said, nothing he's done since touches Pulp Fiction in the least. Resevoir Dogs was a good prep for that film, but Pulp was his best and continues uncontested.

I can't argue this, but would point out that it's hardly an indictment of his other work, as this movie is one of the top X films ever made, where X is a VERY small number.

I would be "les miserable" watching Les Miserables.

I will try not to spoil anything, but "Spoiler Alert" just to cover my ass.

My thoughts on Django Unchained:

1. All the normal gruesome blood one might expect from Quentin Terantino, but most was not to the point that you cringe too much.

2. I wasn't thrilled about seeing Jamie Foxx's family jewels.

3. James Remar ("Harry" from Dexter) plays TWO different characters with speaking roles in the movie, and I noticed it was him immediately both times. Thought that was weird to have a single actor play two characters that are focal enough to get noticed in the movie.

4. At times, it almost flirted with being a comedy. One scene borders on something you might watch in a Monte Python movie (the KKK scene).

5. DiCaprio's teeth are GROSS in the movie.

6. Tarantino, as he has before, shows up in his own movie. He dies rather epically as well.

7. The "N-word" is used more than any other movie I've seen. If you're easily offended by that, don't see it.

8. Waltz, DiCaprio, and Foxx all REALLY showed up well in this movie. Was surprised by Waltz more than the others, mostly because I am not familiar with his body of work beyond this and IB. I expected such solid performances from the other two.

All around, it was VERY entertaining. 3 hours long, though. While I think it was worth the 3 hours, I recommend peeing before you enter the theater.

The one Australian guy that Django escaped from looked exactly like Willie Nelson. I assumed it was until I went home and couldn't find Willie's name in the credits.

IMO...this was DiCaprio's best role he's ever had. He literally makes you want to reach through the screen and strangle him. He was that good

This movie is starting to get alot of Oscar buzz. One critic said he wouldn't be shocked to see Lincoln win Best Director and Best Actor and this win Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor

Dicaprio is just an amazing actor. He's had some great performances in movies like The Basketball Diaries, Romeo and Juliet, The beach, Gangs of New York, Catch me if you can, The departed, Blood Diamond, And Inception. With that said his performance is easily top 3 in his career. We can only hope he becomes one of QT's go to actors.

After this film, QT needs to change his game up. He's now done three revenge flicks (four if you count Kill Bill as two seperate movies). The storyling is getting a littel repetitive. He needs to mix it up like he did earlier with PF and RD.

Pretty amazing movie! Ending rocked. Black people were getting actually really mad though, can't be surprised though, it was exactly how things were in 1858 down South

My white wife was getting mad, too. A few times, I really did feel like I had to lean over and tell her that that doesn't happen anymore.

I saw the movie in Sandusky, on opening night... Theater was about 50/50 and there was absolutely no issue... The loudest laughs of the night came from a big black dude sitting near the top of the auditorium.

My mom told me she didn't like it. I told her to go back to reading her books.

How can you not like this movie?

Not sure if anyone besides hasbeen noticed my post on the Random Movie News thread but when I was leaving the theater I heard two older black men (60's probably) talking and the one said "that shit just wasn't necessary." "I'll never go see another movie starring Samuel L, Jamie Foxx, or directed by Tarantino."
