I am thinking about looking for health insurance myself outside of the company. I am 23, wife is 24, and my son is 4 and we are not planning on having any more children within the next few years.

Some quick online quotes show that I can get health insurance for the family for much cheaper. I don't want to sacrifice quality to much, but we have never used the insurance outside of normal checkups and if I could save 2-3k I should do it.

Anybody have experience in getting health insurance outside of an employer? Advice on things I should look for?

$5000 deductible is what I have now through the end of this year. It will increase Jan 1.
