Reps when I can for this. However, I think it's just the nature of fans to give your own team/fan base the benefit of the doubt (Browns fans being accused of assaulting Grandma's and 3rd graders) by saying there's probably more to the story but calling a guy playing for a hated rival a rapist when he's never even been charged with that crime.

Personally, I believe that Ben is or was a douche and probably was a slime bag with women at times but wasn't actually raping them. I think he acted like a dick and then made himself an easy target and with his rep some females accused him of rape even though it wasn't. Poor judgement on his part and being an asshole. But I do cheer for Ben the player on game days. Every team has some dirtbags and whether some of you know it or believe it or not....you are cheering for them on game days too.

You tell me something first. I really, really don't follow off the field stuff. How has Ben gotten off of each? I don't know the stories of each beyond what you guys put on here. Michael Vick couldn't get off without years in prison and losing $100,000,000. What about Plaxico? Plax got years in prison for having a gun and shooting himself in the leg?

I'm not defending....I don't know the answer.

COA....thanks. Honestly....if we're ranking the biggest POS athletes, Ben has to be on that list for his off-field doings. If he throws for 355 yards and beats the Bengals and then helps lead the Steelers for a GW drive against Cleveland to help put us in the playoffs...I'm going to be happy the Steelers won. I'd prefer Polamalu to have GW pick sixes in each game as he's my favorite player. He's the player on my kids' jerseys...but if Ben is the key cog....I'm not celebrating him but am celebrating my team.

The Steelers have always been my team. They were my team 20 years before been and health permitting 20+ years after he's gone.

There's a part of me thinking that last year could be a determining factor at them deciding they have to get younger at key positions even if it costs them that fabled "one more run". When you consider how virtually anyone who was anyone missed at least a couple games due to injury and how the team is aging, I think they might be at a stage where the old "wrap 'em in duct tape and send 'em out for another year" ship might have sailed.

Probably depends on the mindset. On one hand, you could say that despite all the injuries and stuff, they were in the playoff race until near the end. On the other, they have a lot of older players who struggle to stay healthy and banking that they all (or at least most of them) will next year just seems like setting yourself up to fail.

Downside, in terms of production? Not really. In terms of health, definitely. He was doing great before the injury.

I'd be all for drafting a QB if the right one came along. For the upcoming draft. I can't really think of anyone I would like to have, especially in round 3 or later.

Your line of thinking has kind of been my thoughts for awhile. While Colbert has drafted well, has he really hit any "home runs" over the past few years (drafting defense)? He hasn't gotten any Polamalu's or Harrison's (I know Harrison wasn't drafted by them) to replace these guys.

Those guys are superstar/impact players and replacing them, with similar production, won't be easy. Sure, he's drafted some good "guys" but I haven't seen any impact/game changers like Troy. That's where the rest of the pack in the division can catch up to them.

Would love a great backup.

Ben seems good for 10 games, 3 games injured and 3 not good recovering.

I want defense in the first round.

I'm also anxious to see how Decastro pans out. Spence too, from everything I heard he was doing great until his injury.
