Anybody else old enough to remember the longest NFL game ever played? I remember watching this on Christmas Day as a kid and the Dolphins beat the Chiefs in 2OT when Yepremian kicked a FG. That game seems like it lasted all afternoon into the early evening as I recall.

That UK-Ohio State game doesn't get near as much credit as it should. I was obviously not happy at the result, but it was a back and forth battle. Still pissed that Matta didn't call a timeout to set something up instead of letting Buford throw up an off balance 24 footer.

The largest margin over the the last 30 minutes was four, and really even that was only for a second. It was within one possession the rest of the time.

It gets about as much as it deserve, IMO. UK was the better team on the floor.

OSU was only in it because they have a better coach.

The contests most often associated with "Greatest Game Ever" status are Duke-Kentucky 1992, The Miracle on Ice, Game 5 of the 1976 NBA Finals between Phoenix and Boston, Twins-Braves 1991 World Series, 1958 NFL Championship between the Colts and Giants, Houston-UCLA men's college basketball 1968 in the Astro Dome, Nebraska-Oklahoma 1971 college football, and a few others that I am sure I am forgetting.

tisk tisk... no mention of the "Miracle Minute?"

I'd say my top 5 are:

Miracle on Ice
Boise State/Oklahoma
Duke/Kentucky
Giants/Pats(2007)
1958 NFL Championship

Our school was down by 21 points twice in that game, 28-7 and 42-21 only to win in triple OT 59-52. A close second would be the finals that year when they beat a nationally ranked team with 4-5 DI recruits, after being down by two touchdowns and using a few trick plays, 28-27 on a blocked EP with less than a minute to go win the title.

Best I played in.....probably a state finals game scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th to win.

Best steelers game I have attended......quite a few of them. Memorable is beating the ravens for the SB, but the most exciting may have been the big comeback against the browns in the playoffs. That is probably the most memorable one.

Honorable mention as they werent near and dear to my heart.....NCCAA (National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association). It was hosted by Celina Ohio for a few years. IN 2002 it was Bethel vs Faulkner in the finals. Bethel has to win twice. IN the first game they were down 7-8 runs going into the last two innings, and won. In the second game they were down by 4 runs in the last inning to beat Faulkner
Coldwater over Mooney actually was the greatest game I ever saw in person.

Haha. While I would personally nominate the Miracle Minute -- I like to refer to it as "Gone In 60 Seconds" -- I've never heard it mentioned as the "Greatest Game Ever." That's what my list was aiming for. Every single game that I named above has been labeled by some reputable source or another as the GGE.

My personal list (read my favorites):

Duke-Kentucky
Duke-Maryland aka "The Miracle Minute"
Duke-Butler national championship
Gonzaga-Arizona 2OT 2003 NCAA Tournament ... one of the best games I have truly ever witnessed
Boise State-Oklahoma
Pacers-Nets
2002 Eastern Conference First Round (2OT, Reggie hits half-courter to send game into first OT, then makes dunk in final seconds to send game to a second extra stanza)
New England-Oakland 2001 NFL playoffs
Buffalo-Tennessee aka Music City Miracle

1982 Basketball Game. A player got mad at a fan in the 3rd row and doused him with a bucket of water......but it wasn't water, it was confetti. I don't remember who won.
