This thread is where I thought it would go.

Answer this question. If Lebron James is out on a soccer field, and he is by far the worst soccer player. Would the best soccer player on his team "magically" be the better athlete? Or would the less skilled, 6'8'' faster, stronger, more agile shitty Lebon player still be the best athlete?

I think the answer is obvious. but when people throw out Vastly inferior athletes due to them having good stats, this is where we are confused.

I think of the "best athlete in the world" as somebody who possesses exceptional size, strength, speed, and agility as well as being good at multiple sports. Lebron is the best in his profession, and I have no doubts that he would be a stud in football (if he would have chosen that path), and even average at other sports.


That definition isnt close to fitting Tiger Woods.

I think Michael Jordan is in the discussion...

I think Michael Jordan at his peak in the 90's might edge out Lebron in overall athletic ability. Lebron is bigger and more powerful but Jordan to me was quicker and more fluid. Lebron in motion doesn't have the fluidity and beauty when moves the way Jordan did.

More dominant athlete "at his peak" during an era who also deserves votes is Dan Gable and Edwin C Moses.

Edwin C Moses also has a street named after him in a nice area of Dayton.

Look, when Jordan played the league's second best player was a white dude. Hell the NBA was full of white people. Now, I don't know if you've ever seen a white person play basketball against black people but its like bringing a gun to a knife fight.

Compare that with today's NBA and outside of Kevin Love, Varejao is your best white dude. In fact, Varejao might be the best non-african in the league.

I realize this is an off-topic post cus this thread is about athletics but there are a lot of athletic and talented point guards in the NBA right now but if you put them in a time machine and put them in the league in 1992, John Stockton would be a better player than all of them and these little bitches who cruise into the lane for barely lay-ups would be dropped to the ground.

72 Fk'n years after 1936 Jesse Owens long jump of 8.78m places him 8th at the 2012 Olympics...think about that... a guy from 1936 would be the 8th best long jumper in the world today. The long jump is arguably the quintessential athletic feat that requires speed, power and coordination. And the pure fact the man set 4 World Records in the space of 2.5 hrs one afternoon in 1935 that alone establishes him as the greatest athlete of all time!
