I've used two electric razors in the the past. A $100 self cleaning Braun, and a cheaper Norelco similar to the one in the OP.
Didn't like either.
I'm considering switching from a typical Mach 3 to a safety razor setup. Everyone I've known who has made the switch says they won't go back.

LMAO - what is it about the brush and face lathering that would make someone uncomfortable?
And is there some reason you can't just continue to use regular old shaving cream and apply with your hand, like with a regular blade?
Altough I think maybe I should try one of those heated dispensers - I usually shave after my shower because the hot water opens the pores and softens the hair to make it more comfortable to shave.

In general you'll get a better shave with less irritation if you use a brush and a decent soap vs an aerosol with hand application.

I find a good electric can be just as clean as a razor (but maybe the 5 o'clock shadow hits a bit earlier). And I don't get any irritation shaving dry. It's quicker, and trying to travel with a regular razor and shaving cream would be a nuisance if you just do the carry-on thing.

I tried a few electric razors over the years and none of them ever got the tough spots on my neck (after you could use to scratch an itch on your hand).....with any non-electric I can get it smooth but it is tough not to get a small cut.

As do I. However, facial hair does not inhibit me from performing my duties.
I can see how hair in the eye can cause you to miss a call or three, though.

Permanent goatee, just edge and trim with my clippers. I'd look like a 12 year old with a clean shave.
My barber does the whole soap lather and straight edge when I get a haircut though.

Always use a razor and had MACH 3 for years, but i started to use a Hydro 5 by schick and it is much, much, much better. Last longer, closer cut. but anyways.
I will be getting an electric razor to use when I am out in the field Recently i was at a place that had no running water for 3 weeks and to shave with cold water from a bottle......man that tore me up.

I tried electrics in the past but couldn't stand them.
I use a Merkur safety razor and a badger hair brush. The best shaving cream I've found, or at least the stuff I like the best, is this C.O. Bigelow cream. Only $10 for a giant tube at Bath & Body Works.

Never liked electrics, they always pulled more than they cut. Love the Gillette Fusion. I would like to learn to straight razor myself but I can see that ending with me in the ER and a bunch of stitches.

Its not shaving really. Use these on the closest setting. End up with a slight bit of stubble and a constant 5 o clock shadow.
