We always see the helicopter view of car chases on television. No reason they can't just use that to keep tabs on where they're going. They have to stop sometime.

And it might not be 100% a possibility everywhere but it seems that's a safer situation than chasing people who run (save for situations where they had just been witnessed murdering someone or something). Of course I'm arm-chairing so I'm sure there's some things I'm not thinking/aware of.

Interesting scenario, say you're in a store and witness someone attempting to rob it. You pull out your gun on them and they decide, "you know what it isn't worth it", and put their gun/knife/whatever down. But then they don't want to get arrested either so they flee the scene. In that scenario do you shoot them?

I don't own a gun. But if I did I wouldn't pull it out unless someone was directly trying to harm me. So in your scenario I would let them run.

I think that would likely be my move there as well. There's likely cameras and I would still call the police and everything but I don't need to be shooting someone for that.

Of course the other argument is "what if they rob another place and hurt someone after you let them go".

Yet another reason to hate unions. Incompetent police detectives.

If you want to go to jail, then yes, shoot them.
