People will disagree with the President on his legacy, that's fine, and I thought the address was more pep rally than actual address, but I liked parts of it and think we all can agree on a few things.
I think we all can agree his threats to democracy make sense and given the bubble culture and bifurcation of searching for news that only fits our own point of view, makes sense.
We can also agree that his idea for everyone to stay involved in politics and caring about national service and what our lawmakers are doing is essential going forward.

I'm one of the people who think that history will not be kind to him. He was divisive when he didn't have to be, that was one of the huge errors that he made. Also, I can't but think that he didn't give two shits about people outside of Illinois, California and New York.

However, I do agree with the message to not stay in your own echo chambers. Even if you don't like an opposing idea or totally disregard it, it is usually interesting (or even amusing to some extent) to hear them.

I actually would agree he didn't help and actually made things worse. The healthcare law handing that over to Congress, not being very receptive to Congress, and ignoring/ not seeing a lot of the misgiving that led to Trump were his faults.

He's going to be a rockstar. He remains a very popular, if mediocre, POTUS. Hillary is deplorable and Bill has one foot in the grave - the left needs a new Slick Willy...and that clearly is going to be Obama.

Bill Clinton wasn't nearly as good of a POTUS as made out to be. In the immediate years after, he was seen as largely staying out of the way of the Dot.com boom before handing off a big recession inducing tech bubble to W. And he's largely escaped blame for his role in the housing meltdown.

Like Willy, Obama gives a good speech and is very likable. And so his accomplishments will be white-washed and overstated.

I do not have great personal affinity for either; all I care about is getting as much government out of our lives as possible, and developing a real economic growth plan.

I don't think this is a good thing. I didn't like it when Obama did it, and Trump appears heading towards completely shutting out any media that questions or disagrees with him. That COULD be a catalyst for responsible change in the media, but more than likely it will just make those hacks MORE partisan.

You look at Trump going after CNN, and it really does parallel Obama and Fox (albeit, Trump is far more unpolished and low-brow). Fine line man, as gut has pointed out. There is still freedom of the press. Sure, Trump can and should call out news reports that is BS, but on the flip side, the President elect goes all fast and loose with some facts most of the time. The press should be able to call him out on that. If they do, and are correct, he cannot have personal vendettas or grudges toward members of the press. That is not how it works.
