So what is the difference between carrying my gun onto private land and driving my car on to private land? Both require licenses from the state of Ohio.queencitybuckeye;1321747 wrote:Your mind-reading ability seems to be on the blink. Your assumption of my argument being based on fear is off the mark. It's similar to the old saw about people not wanting the cops to barge into their house having to mean that they have something to hide. As to my personality flaws, I have many, but insecurity is not among them IMO.
It's not that far off, as you make a conscious (I hope) decision of whether to carry a weapon every single time you leave your home.

Under current law in the context of this discussion, none. Under the proposed changes to the law, quite a bit.WebFire;1321815 wrote:So what is the difference between carrying my gun onto private land and driving my car on to private land? Both require licenses from the state of Ohio.

I don't mean lawful differences. I mean difference of your opinion. Why is it ok to drive onto your property without permission (not trespass, mind you), but not to CONCEAL a handgun (that you would never even know I had)?queencitybuckeye;1321818 wrote:Under current law in the context of this discussion, none. It's not even close. Hunting requires pre-planning for a designated activity in a designated area. Carrying is like putting your shoes on, and is part of your normal routine.queencitybuckeye;1321747 wrote:It's not that far off, as you make a conscious (I hope) decision of whether to carry a weapon every single time you leave your home.

You guys who carry, what's the motivation? Do you really feel that unsafe? I can see some people that might find themselves in bad areas due to work, family, commute, etc... But what prompts you to tolerate the nuisance of strapping-up to go to the corner drug store?

Peace of mind, and like guns. Why not carry? Once you get used to it, it's not really a nuisance. Like wearing glasses, I suppose.

I love how some (ignorant) people think that because you carry a gun, you plan to go out and use and shoot up whoever and whenever you feel like it. Anyone threatened by a CHL holder is just damn ignorant.

You labeled ppl threatened by CHL holders as being ignorant. I explained to you that just because you have a CHL in Ohio doesnt mean you are responsible and I shouldnt be worried about you carrying a deadly weapon. Actually, on second thought, don't. I'm not going to bother arguing about this. There is no point.

Based on recent election results, there is no shortage of people in our country that are willing to take what's yours and put it in their own pocket. There people are why I carry.gut;1321913 wrote:You guys who carry, what's the motivation? Do you really feel that unsafe? Lol why do you get so defensive because I dont trust everyone with a CHL. You act like we're personally attacking you lol. All I'm saying is just because you sit through a day of class, doesnt mean i trust you fully with a loaded weapon I dont know you haveWebFire;1322127 wrote:Actually, on second thought, don't. I understand it doesnt matter what I think since you're licensed with ohio. But I dont think it makes me sound ignorant for not trusting everyone

Do you think a gun is going to jump out of someone's holster and shoot you. I present my challenge again. Show me stats that suggest you should worry about CHL carriers.Hb31187;1322140 wrote:Lol why do you get so defensive because I dont trust everyone with a CHL. The Violence Policy Center’s Concealed Carry Killers database documents 356 incidents in 32 states since May 2007. In more than three quarters of the incidents (282) the concealed carry killer has already been convicted (108), committed suicide (167), or was killed in the incident (seven). Of the 64 cases still pending, the vast majority (51) of concealed carry killers have been charged with criminal homicide, five were deemed incompetent to stand trial, and eight incidents are still under investigation. An additional 10 incidents were fatal unintentional shootings involving the gun of the concealed handgun permit holder. Twenty-three of the incidents were mass shootings, resulting in the deaths of 103 victims.WebFire;1322105 wrote:Not sure how that is relevant. Bad guys don't go get their CHL.

So condescending. No of course a gun isnt gonna jump out of someones holster and shoot me. But with that ease at which you can get a CHL in Ohio there are just plenty of owners who arent exactly the most responsible. And all it takes is 1 slip up with a loaded handgun for something bad to happen. But again its almost comical how defensive you get over this topic lolWebFire;1322143 wrote:Do you think a gun is going to jump out of someone's holster and shoot you. I present my challenge again.
