I know shit like this happens every game, thus I normally never complain about it, however yesterday was just god awful. Not sure what other holds you are talking about. It seems like 95% of the passes that went to Skring were called. Bitching about that is like bitching about the refs not calling a hold on a lineman. I think Browns fans have a legit gripe with the things I mentioned, and that includes Ward's hit.wildcats20;1324934 wrote:The false start was awful lol. But Ward's hit was not clean. You can't hit a guy helmet to helmet. That is what he did.
The fumble, or lack of, is debatable. I didn't think he ever had total control of the call. But I can also see why most think he did. It could have went either way.
Also how about the horse collar call? And there were multiple other times the Browns secondary should have been called for holds or PI.
Shit like this happens every game. Blatant calls are missed every game.

I am not just basing that comment off this site. The few Pittsburgh fans that I have not deleted off facebook are the worst cry babies I have seen.Heretic;1324938 wrote:Usually, the people who complain about the refs in Pittsburgh games not named Non are fans of other teams.

Justifiably so, of course.

There's no way, with the way the rules have been called the last few years, that Ward's hit was questionable. It was a penalty.like_that;1324940 wrote:I know shit like this happens every game, thus I normally never complain about it, however yesterday was just god awful. Edit: What the hell do I know? I think Hochuli might have miss spoke about the helmet part, but isn't hitting a defenseless receiver a penalty without hitting the head?

Ward's hit was shoulder to shoulder. No helmet's involved.wildcats20;1324934 wrote:The false start was awful lol. But Ward's hit was not clean. You can't hit a guy helmet to helmet. That is what he did.

I could tell live it was a clean hit, but because it knocked the wind out of him and he was laying on the ground...the flag was thrown. Bring back the replacements.

Not sure what you're looking at. I'm seeing TJ Ward's right shoulder go into the earhole of Kevin Ogletree's helmet.BR1986FB;1324973 wrote:Ward's hit was shoulder to shoulder. No helmet's involved.

There was nothing against the rules with Ward's hit. It was not helmet to helmet. They threw the flag because it looked violent. Apparently Ward was supposed to allow him to catch the ball, and then he could hit him. What a joke.hasbeen;1324966 wrote:There's no way, with the way the rules have been called the last few years, that Ward's hit was questionable. It was a penalty.

(a) Players in a defenseless posture are: [. . .]
(2) A receiver attempting to catch a pass; or who has completed a catch and has not had time to protect himself or has not clearly become a runner. If the receiver/runner is capable of avoiding or warding off the impending contact of an opponent, he is no longer a defenseless player;
[. . .]
(b) Prohibited contact against a player who is in a defenseless posture is:
(1) Forcibly hitting the defenseless player’s head or neck area with the helmet, facemask, forearm, or shoulder, regardless of whether the defensive player also uses his arms to tackle the defenseless player by encircling or grasping him; and
(2) Lowering the head and making forcible contact with the top/crown or forehead/”hairline” parts of the helmet against any part of the defenseless player’s body.”

Even if it was underneath the facemask, it is an illegal hit. Under the facemask is 'neck area'.BR1986FB;1324984 wrote:Nope. Shoulder to shoulder underneath the facemask. Clean hit.
Not a clean hit.

He got all pad, no head or neck...Clean hit. Now the hit Ward had on Jordan Shipley was illegal but not this one.hasbeen;1324988 wrote:Even if it was underneath the facemask, it is an illegal hit. Under the facemask is 'neck area'.

His helmet hit Ogletree under the face mask and in-between his shoulder pad. It was 100% illegal by the letter of the law. It's a dumb rule but they got it right.

Neck area. He did not get all pad. As sportchampps, said it's illegal based on the rule. Whether I agree with it or not, they got it right.BR1986FB;1324997 wrote:He got all pad, no head or neck...Clean hit. Now the hit Ward had on Jordan Shipley was illegal but not this one.

crying about the refs wont do anything. there were bad calls both ways. Whether the Austin play was a fumble or not, it isnt reviewable. Blame the NFL.

Meh I won't get into about who got what calls. I think both teams had some shitty calls against them and had some calls or no calls go their way. I think the refs were just overall bad. This was a game that should have ended in a tie given the way both teams played lol.

I know.. Im just saying..yeah there was a missed false start, yeah there was a missed horse-collar. Even with all of the bad calls, the Browns still could have won the game. It was one of the sloppiest games I feel I have ever seen.like_that;1325039 wrote:As I have said before, I normally don't bitch about the refs...

I mean.. 4th and goal from the 1-2 and not only do you not give it to your #3 stud pick and the best player on offense, not only do you not run a play action, you run a fucking tight end fade to a guy who hasnt done anything all game and throw it out of bounds.

Good teams overcome shitty calls. The Browns aren't good enough for that. Shit, Matt Ryan threw FIVE picks yesterday and the Falcons still won. That stuff doesn't happen to the Browns.Pick6;1325044 wrote:I know.. Im just saying..yeah there was a missed false start, yeah there was a missed horse-collar. I'd say that was more of Ken Whisenhunt being a complete fucking moron by benching Skelton then how great of a team the Falcons are. I mean they are a great team but still it was so dumb to bench Skelton lol.BR1986FB;1325062 wrote:Good teams overcome shitty calls. The Browns aren't good enough for that. Nope, actually the Browns get 5 turnovers (nearly 6) and still lose.BR1986FB;1325062 wrote:Good teams overcome shitty calls. The Browns aren't good enough for that. Shit, Matt Ryan threw FIVE picks yesterday and the Falcons still won. That stuff doesn't happen to the Browns.
