Some people can't help the fact that they have to work certain hours.

It is not "some" people that I was commenting about. I answered what I would do in that situation.GoChiefs;1319854 wrote:Some people can't help the fact that they have to work certain hours.

I don't believe that was the question.

I can't answer the question further than what I have. There are details of each families life that are specific to them.GoChiefs;1319871 wrote:I don't believe that was the question.

You didn't answer the question at all.Con_Alma;1319897 wrote:I can't answer the question further than what I have. There are details of each families life that are specific to them.
The question was "But do I try and contact his parents direct, or do I call the school....or am I totally overreacting?"

I can't any further than what I ave. If that's "not at all" I'll rephrase it for you.GoChiefs;1319905 wrote:You didn't answer the question at all.

My parents never picked me up from school or practice. I did not (and still do not) care whatsoever. Not sure what his age has to do with anything.Con_Alma;1319847 wrote:I would change* our lifestyle so either my wife or myself was able to pick up my kids from school each day. He's only 6.

His age dictates when a potential concern of environment exists, he's less likely to have had the experience to know what to do. A 6 year old would necessarily know there's a potential issue receiving a bullet than a 16 year old. That's all.Fab4Runner;1319911 wrote:My parents never picked me up from school or practice. He could have traded for said bullet at school just as easily as he could have at the after school program at the YMCA. I am sure the other kid had it with him all day. Why would it matter where Snot picks him up?Con_Alma;1319915 wrote:His age dictates when a potential concern of environment exists, he's less likely to have had the experience to know what to do. It may not have mattered where Snot picked him up but being present always provides for more opportunities as an adult than not being present when it comes to a child. Opportunities to see in context the ability to talk to other child's parent or teacher/administrator, or a variety of other things not know. My post is just an opinion and preference as opposed to being a factual truth.

How dare you snot. You're a terrible parent for working and trying to provide for your family instead of making sure you're at home when they get out of school!

I disagree. Seems like he's trying to be good parent to me. He's concerned about a recent situation and is asking for input from others.GoChiefs;1319925 wrote:How dare you snot. Contact the parents ASAP and see what other weapons they are willing to trade or sell ... Remember you have the upper hand in the dealing ... or their kid will be suspended, they will be question by the school, legal system tomorrow.. Great opportunity

Honesty, without Con_Alma posting, I wouldn't be here. His activity level and my activity level are highly correlated.

Con_Alma, you evidently don't have a child...or job. So I think I'll pass on your passive aggressive advice and continue to raise my children in a well provided, loving environment. Even if that means picking him 30 minutes to 2 hours after school after I get off work (between 3-5 pm) two days a week. I'll take my chances.
Or I could give up a great salary and go into fry cooking so I can be a better parent. Better yet, I'll just get my free cell phone and go into Obama protection. At least then I could pick up my child at school at 2:45 every day.

I do have children who are being raised in a "well provided, loving environment". Eliminating those things had nothing to do with my comments.
The only alternative isn't just being available to pick them up by working as a fry cook. That just seems like a silly little exaggeration for effect on your part.

Honestly, this was the first thing I thought of. Seems like a "Know how I know you're gay?" joke lobbed over the plate.

Quoting this because lol.

Aaaaaaaand Belly swoops in with the big picture.
While I agree that a good living and a good family life are not mutually exclusive, I'm not sure why you think picking the child up at school is so preferable.Con_Alma;1320590 wrote:????

Also, in a job market like we see right now, it may indeed be the case that he can't just find another job that lets him leave in time to get to the school by 2:45.

But if Snot's wife was in the kitchen where she belonged then she could go get the kids when they got out of school. (and then get right back in the fucking kitchen and make a sandwich)O-Trap;1320790 wrote:Also, in a job market like we see right now, it may indeed be the case that he can't just find another job that lets him leave in time to get to the school by 2:45.
