The wife wanted to put up our Christmas lights this weekend since the weather was nice. But the plastic clips that we got aren't going to work.

We have a small ranch, but there's a roof peak in the front, followed by about a 15 foot straight stretch with a gutter. I thought these clips were going to work out, but now I have no idea how to hang these lights.

So what do you use to hang your lights?

I use the plastic clips and hang them from the gutter. The lights I don't mind so much but dragging everything Christmas out of the garage/attic is a dread.

It's not that big of a deal to hang then when it 40 degrees....we're white trash enough without having lights up 2 weeks before Thanksgiving.

I only put fake white candles in the windows. Strings of xmas lights on homes looks stupid and is only for poor people.

We have a tree and a door wreath....nothing else. Lights are a pain. You just have to take them down usually in sub-freezing weather after January 1st and I can see the electric company smiling every time I flip the switch.

Oh so instead you went the route of old women and put fake candles in your windows. Got 'em good.

The home I grew up in was built in the early 1800's. Candles in the windows of old homes is correct.



People who like xmas lights generally have bad taste. They probably even display other seasonal ornaments throughout the year in front of their pre-fab.

The wreath are up, apple fan in place, spot (5) lights in the ground, front door swag hung, white lights wrapped around the small dogwood and red bud tree in the front yard, electric window candles stuck to the windows, kugels and garland hung in the breakfast room, Living room tree is up (not decorated yet) Muffy tree and Family Room tree still in the boxes and newest family find a 1960 vintage door Santa fixed and working hung at the side door. </SPAN>

Christmas decorations already? Damn too early IMO! We don't until thanksgiving weekend normally if we do it.

No lights on the house. I put lights on 2 trees and a bush. Then I do a 4' wreath on the house with a spotlight.

This thread made me realize that I've had a wreath on my front door and lights up from last year. We live is BFE, have no neighbors and don't ever use the front door so no one sees it.

I'd rather not spend money I don't have on lights. I'd also rather not spend time putting up and taking them down.

I am not a decorator of the seasons/holidays. I would rather spend what little money I have on things that don't clutter, take up space, and collect dust for the other 364 days of the year.

We have wreaths on windows and spotlights at my house. We don't usually put them up until after Thanksgiving since it's pretty simple.

imo- get rid of the string lights in the bushes and around the edges it has potential.

WHen I read the title my answer was goin to be that I hire the mexicans across the street to do it for me. They do it so cheap as my time is more valuable.
