Even if nd loses a game, they're going to a bcs game based off the rule for nd... Right?

Not necessarily. ND has to finish in the top 8 to get an auto bid. They are BCS eligible if they are in the top 14...which they probably would be, even if they lose a game between now and the end of the season.

But if they lose a game, they will most definitely drop out of the top 8 in the BCS and not have a guaranteed spot.

there is no "rule for ND" if they lose a game. there is a rule for every FBS level team to be eligible if there aren't enough auto qualifiers. any team is eligible if they win 9 games and are ranked in the top 14 of the BCS. the only auto qualifier for ND is if they finish in the top 8 of the BCS, which would pretty much guarantee ANY team in the BCS of being in a BCS bowl.

to answer the first part of your question, yes, if Notre Dame is 11-1, they will be in a BCS game.

Exactly what I was saying. They have their own rule for the bcs. Since they aren't in a conference. Don't try to turn it around that I was trolling or something. I was simply asking a question

if they lose a game, they won't be in the top 8 (unless a lot of teams in the top ten lose the last weekend of regular season). so like I said, there is no "rule for ND" if they lose a game which was your question. in that case, they'd be in the same situation as every other 9+ win team ranked in the top 14 of the BCS. I answered the exact question you asked.

I don't think ND getting into a BCS game will be a problem. ND winning a BCS game is another story.

I don't think an nd loss would drop them past 8. Seems like this year a loss only drops you 3 or 4 spots.

All depends on who the loss is to. ND currently sits #4. A loss to BC or Wake, and ND falls out of the top 10. A loss to USC, and they may be able to hold on to a spot in the top 8.

Yea that's true. But really really unlikely.

I'm sure there are some ND fans here watching the "Onward Notre Dame" special on NBC. It's really very good. Love the Ken Burns-like narration. Lends to the mystique of Notre Dame really well.

I thought that Onward Notre Dame special was really well done. My favorite was Louis Nix talking about how his little brother thinks he plays QB for Notre Dame and he just doesn't correct him. LOL

I'm not watching it now, I saw it when it aired before the Stanford game. I'd rather watch this aTm/Alabama game.

Yeah that's hilarious about Nix. And I guess I wasn't aware that this had been on before but I see that on the guide now. I thought it was weird that it was centered around the Miami game, which happened forever ago. Makes sense. I will probably DVR the rest once the half is over in Tuscaloosa.

Nix is by far the best personality and most quotable on the team.

also just this week talking about playing on the road:

"Everybody's against you on the road," nose guard Louis Nix said. "I love that type of stuff."

"One guy at Oklahoma called me fat," he said. "And he was fat himself. I didn't like that. In my mind, big guys should stick together."

Boston College is really bad. Really, really bad. I'll take ND 27-9 tonight.

Why do we constantly play down to our opponents. It doesn't help Atkinson fumbled at the 20 but the d line isn't getting much pressure

Gorgeous throw by golson on that td. The Irish only had the ball 3 times the whole first half.

Mr Baseball sounded defeated in that halftime interview.

Golson is having another solid game, i think 10/13 and running the ball really well.

Well it's 14-3 at half. Notre Dame's offense kind of sucks. They've scored 20 or less > 50% of the time this year. I think 27 is pretty generous.

They only had the ball 3 times. There a grind it out clock control offense. Really that's all they need with the defense they have

Wouldn't that make 27-9 pretty reasonable?
