“Choo’s let it be known that he has a desire to win. I think the ownership in Cleveland, foundationally, they’re going to have to illustrate some dynamics with new revenues and where they stand about what they do to show their fan base and their players who they are in competing. That’s a new calling that they are going to have to bring forth to give players, and everybody involved, (an idea) about what their intentions are in their ownership.”
Scott Boras in fancy lawyer speak just called the Dolans cheapskates who could give two shits about winning.

While I know in his world any owner who isn't drastically over paying for Boras clients is a cheapskate, it is nice to see someone with a national profile call out the Dolan's over their lack of financial committment to winning.

and don't forget Gabe Paul.

Now you have Francona formerly of the Sox.

...turning a profit, even if it means being mediocre for ever....seems to be their intentions.

Tigers sign Hunter for 2 years and 26 million. We actually had this money with Hafner and Sizemore coming off the books. I don't think Hunter will have a huge season or anything but pretty low risk only giving him 2 years. Good deal for the Tigers.

4. The Dolan family, Indians: Remember when the Indians used to go to the playoffs every year? It wasn't that long ago, but it sure seems like it. The Dolans bought the team in 2000 and the Indians have made the playoffs only once since 2001. They have traded CC Sabathia and Cliff Lee since then, though. Cry small market if you wish, but Dolan bought the club for $323 million in 2000 and Forbes magazine values the club at $410 million now. Also, the Reds, Cardinals and Brewers play in smaller TV markets. They seem to do OK.
That last quote about sums it up perfectly. Why Shaprio and Antonetti still have a job is baffling to me.

Tigers get Hunter. Here's a World Series team and it is already making moves to improve. It is not waiting for it's players 'to develop'.

Why aren't the Dolans at the top of that list?

Not that I thought they would sign him or anything, but that was the kind of guy on a short term deal at a reasonable salary that the Tribe should be targeting.

$10 million frankly doesn't buy you that much anymore, and the Dolan's have to adjust to the times that unlike 10-15 years ago, $10+ million a year is not going to get you Cabrerra/Hamilton level production.

They seem just paralyzed when it comes to opening up their check book.

C'mon, now...you know these guys would much prefer finding "lightning in a bottle", on the cheap, so they can look like geniuses.

Some major disconnect here...

I won't get on them about not going after Melky.

We already saw what happens when you commit money to guys that can't use the juice anymore (Hafner) and they never approach their roid level production.

For the Tribe an $8 million player would be our biggest addition to the roster, and he is too risky to have committed the money to.

I would guess from that article that they are comfortable with what they are doing/what they have done, and don't see any reason to do anything any different. SMFH.

I hate to quote myself...but the Tribe just made this year's 'Aaron Cunningham' type deal...signing a pair of light hitting outfielders to minor league contracts to "increase depth"....Matt Carson and Cedric Hunter.....GoooooTribe!

^^^I'm not sure if I still have it...I was pretty teed off when I renewed. I wasn't going to, but my long time friend who I split the season tix with, talked me into one more year. A few years ago, I had a plan of 4 front row seats on the right field wall that 7 of us were in on. But after the great fire sale, 5 guys baled in disgust, and it left just the two of us with 2 seats out in the not so front, fourth row of the bleachers. The seats actually are pretty good, and it only cost $750, but spending an hour and a half on the road, paying for the gas, the parking, drinking overpriced beer and eating overpriced food just to watch an inferior product is getting kind of old. I "took one for the friendship" and reupped...but I did serve notice that this is the last year unless the owner steps up and makes this a team worth watching.

Tribe fans, prepare for (potentially) a year of constant multi-strikeout games, one RBI every couple weeks or so, and a plethora of weak ground balls to short ... Jason Bay considering the Tribe (this Mets fans can simply retort: "I'm sorry"): http://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/metsblog/mets_bust_bay_considering_indians_0p4c4dXtQWj5nYHhntVPbK

Before anyone says a change a scenery will do him good, let me say this: he is the worst MLB player I have seen in a long, long time. Just a shell of his former self.

If I ever met this clown I'd address him as "Sha-peero" just to piss his worthless ass off.

This enrages me. You put an inferior product out there and then try to turn it around and make us feel bad for not coming.

Also, sick of Chris Perez. Anybody see his tweet this morning?

"Going to get my work out on so maybe we have a winning team for you to come watch this year."

So, in other words, he wants to spend our money on parking, tickets, over-priced food, and over-priced beverages and not care what kind of an outcome or what kind of a product they are putting on the field. Got it. GTFO

And Perez should just STFU. I hope he's traded.
