He had his career ruined with injury and lack of pace. If he can regain 95 consistently I wouldnt doubt he moves into our top 2 of the rotation.

Yes. Francona has even said its crazy how good he is right now. As long as he stays healthy he should make the rotation. From all accounts he was locating his fastball very well and only got hit hard once and that was a hanging breaking pitch.

He was also pitching a bit in winter ball and was consistently hitting 92-93-94 and looked like his old self. The key for him would be to stay healthy

That would be amazing if we got anything useful out of Kazmir.

That is promising news on Kazmir. Looking at his career numbers, 2005-2008 his highest ERA was 3.77 and 3 of those years below 3.5. Never had many wins but he was on some awful Tampa teams. I don't know if we can expect that form but if we got that it would be a huge, huge boost. To say the least.

From everything I have heard. Him and Francona are working on him getting to 95mph. Francona was helping him with his mechanics all winter to get him to that 95. If he's hitting 92 or lower he gets rocked but when he hits 95 or higher he always has a very good outing.

That is a good article^^^...and OSU's Braxton Miler is on the cover to boot! Good to see some positive press. The negativity the previous years(self inflicted) was getting suffocating.

Tribe beats Chi Sox 9-7 yesterday....Mike McDade(1B) and Matt Carson(OF) are making a case for themselves. Masterson gets roughed up, but Kaczmir looks good.

Perez out for a month with a shoulder strain:thumbdown:

Ubaldo got credited for 5 runs but when he was pitching I believe he gave up 2 and the guy that came in have up the rest. He didn't have it today but I liked how he battled the first 2 innings.

There's a difference between how a guy goes about spring training when they have a guaranteed spot. Those guys are working on pitches and getting ready. Guys that are in competition for roster spots are a different story. Those guys are pitching as if their career depends on it.

I think Kazmir is a lock for the rotation at this point. Thoughts?

I think there are going to be some tough roster cuts near the end. Some of it may come down to who we can stash at AAA.

Kazmir and Dice k have both been impressive. Of the 2, I'd prefer Kazmir. Hit's is right. There's going to be some tough decisions at the end of camp.

Dice k has looked good but he just doesn't have the velocity. It'd be interesting to see him come on in relief though. That delivery would definitely create timing issues

 no offense crimson, but I thought the same thing. The time for Ubaldo to step up is now....no more excuses. In his defense, it is spring training and pitchers who know they have a guaranteed spot are working on their stuff, and are not necesarily concerned with results..YET. BUT when the season starts....he better be able to get guys out.....we are not going to care about how he battled.....and I certainly hope we never hear this out of Tito's mouth.

Oh I agree but it seemed like last year he would give up 2 hits and then he would melt down and 2 hits turned into 3-4 runs. I feel like he will have a solid bounce back year.

It didnt seem like that... It DID happen. The tribe seems to do a good job of placing mentally weak pitchers on the rotation. Carmona was the fucking worst. He could be having a great outing, all of a sudden a guy gets on base with TWO outs and Carmona implodes to give up 4 runs.
